I only watch right wing news, and when it doesn't pass the sniff test (like a mayor wanting her own city to burn) I look for other resources. Through investigation on my own I find the truth somewhere in the middle.

She should have had the National Guard deployed Saturday night when the violence started and the baseball fans got locked in at the stadium.

or perhaps he didn't want to inflame the situation. How can you access the Governor's decision? Who can know if the criminals who perpetuated this looting and violence wouldn't have been further destructive and violent had he chosen the former instead of the latter. We do know the mayor misjudged her city's citizens and the situation enormously.

This woman should resign from office immediately. To allow people to destroy property, and then lie about what she said, is unforgivable.
I wonder if she needs surgery on her tongue, with all the twisting of her words she has done

Even of recent, she invites Al Sharpton, which is a little confusing because he previously stated on his show, that there was no reason for him to go there, since the officials there were handling the freddie gray case.
Now, with this invitation, talk about wanting to stir the pot.

Why worry about some property damage and not the health, lives, and freedom of black Baltimoreans?

Are you believing the news (or whoever told you), or do you somehow know this to be true? I've said I will admit I am wrong, and the Gov's hands were tied, if someone (anyone) can show me.

The governor himself avoided the question and said it was his decision to "respect the mayor". Sooner or later, someone has to be responsible.

I'm honestly asking. Can anyone substantiate that this is "the law"? I think it's a fair question.
I was rip roaring angry on here, in this very forum, about that, complaining, almost swearing about how those people needed help....I was livid, and someone came in and said, that Bush by law, couldn't go in, that he had to have the ok from the mayor and then the gov, before moving, which made me even angrier...
I remember the whole thing, b/c I had friends in there....

what American's do not understand, is....that what happened with these riots, could very well come to their town....if there is any kind of problem such as Katrina, b/c human beings become like animals....not all, of course, but watching these people destroy police property, boils my blood, and I feel no sympathy what-so-ever....so now, suppose their is a bad cop out there that is wrong, in his behavior...and corrupt....whose going to believe that after this riot? Huh?

These people made it worse for themselves.....and after seeing what I've seen, cops have every right to protect themselves, shoot and ask questions later...they are not paid enough to put up with these animals....

So, sorry I got off track here....but maybe someone else can answer your question, but I've been under the impression since Katrina, that the mayor has to ask the governor and then he has to ask for the National Guard to come in? Does anyone out there know the answer to this?

the (bolded) word you just used would have eliminated all confusion.

“It’s a very delicate balancing act because while we try to make sure that they protestors were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also unfortunately gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well,”
The cars? Would those be the cars of people who go about their every day business - going to work, going home, picking up children from school, coming home from the doctor, went shopping? The cars were a danger to those hoodlums? And what "other things" were going on before the riot?

Was she thinking about the people who lived in the community, businesses destroyed, cars destroyed, homes vandalized from the outside, when she gave the mob a free pass?? The majority of the rioters did not even live in the community.

Its not that hard. The kid is wearing a book bag just got out of school listen to her words in the video and you can tell that is his mother. You really think he would let anyone else hit him like that was not his mom? None of my siblings or neighbors would dare do that.

So, you shop cheap, and it would make you feel better to see other people wear something even cheaper? Why don't you buy a pair of nice jeans so you wouldn't have to beat yourself up?
