Yes, finally someone on here who understands. New gun laws will not completely eliminate gun related crime. But reducing firearm related homicides from 11,000 people a year to 5,000 or 3,000 would be a massive improvement. America is a first world nation, a nation founded by brilliant, educated, civilized people. Our homicide rate is far to high for a country as great as this. The American people deserve better.
Please show me a state which has in acted such gun laws and how crime has markedly dropped since the law enactment.
Please feel free to look at California for example. We are the anti gunners wet dream of gun policy. We still have the same crime rate as before, previous trends continue with national trends. The only accomplishment of anti gunners is to restrict the rights of people who already follow the law, like me.
Over the last 30 years crime has generally decreased nation wide. Over that same period of time the amount of people carrying a gun for self protection has increase more than 15 fold.

As several people have already correctly pointed out, having a single state with strict gun laws does not stop gun crime. It has to be nation wide. As you may have noticed, we have open border policy between all the states. So people in my home state of California that want 30 round mags for their AR-15 simple just need to drive to Arizona or Nevada. Thus making California state gun laws pointless. Hawaii is pretty densely populated, very ethnically mixed and has a very low rate of gun crime. Why? Because its difficult to get a handgun there.

Eliminate the violence in the inner cities and you would see that we are every bit as safe as other 1st world countries even with 200+ million firearms. You've basically been told this in different wording for this entire thread. To go after the violence in the inner cities will cost money, and will cast a bad light on failed programs that our government has spent our money on...so it will never happen.
Since we had less gun laws in past its obvious where problem is;violent humans. Ordinary citizens are not going to part with their only defense which is self defense. One only has to look at past when gun laws where less to see where the r problem lies. Schools use to be as safe as you could find ;not now which shows the real safety problems only self defense can defend against. Read the news in other countries with less guns and you read bombing after bombing by violent people.

So how do you explain the violent crime rate difference between these two cities which border each other and both have the same firearm laws ?

Government studies have debunked your criminal road trip theory. Most crime guns come from already illegal straw purchases.
Not to mention all the things anti gunners in this state have made illegal, like standard capacity magazines and rifles with a pistol grip, etc, are rarely actually used in crime. Not to mention the scores of others laws, like the handgun roster, who's only existence is to extort money from gun companies.
