"An Apache helicopter pilot from Texas and a military police officer from Connecticut are the first women to complete the Army’s grueling Ranger School, families of the soldiers confirmed Wednesday.
Capt. Kristen Griest of Orange, Connecticut, and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver of Copperas Cove, Texas, were scheduled to graduate Friday alongside 94 male soldiers at Fort Benning, Georgia."
Haver, the pilot, followed in her father's footsteps. He was also an Apache pilot and career Army.
Are you kidding. Sorry to disappoint you but there are women who can go one on one with a man kick their ass lol
No, there are not; unless the man is emaciated or has mental issues that prevent him from fighting. Every average man, without a disability, will beat every average woman every time. The muscle mass and, often, weight difference is just to much to overcome. It has zero to do with mental toughness or the will to be "equal". It's physics. Any honest fighter readily admit that winning depends on a rough weight and strength parity or superiority. Anyone minimally competent will be able to counter any shots to weak points that would otherwise even the field.
This is a completely unnecessary PC experiment that, if carried out in full (combat), will lead to lost lives. Though, I am 99% that these women will be on steroid regimens if there is any intention of them ever seeing a boots-on-the-ground mission; if for nothing else but to save face and keep up the narrative. Alternatively, things will go badly but remain classified.
The logical move would be to train them to be snipers, assuming that they are comfortable with a lot of large caliber recoil.

Women are not the weaklings you may be used to. Some are seriously kick ass and could probably take you down lol
From what I've heard about this story, the women who tried out to be Rangers did not want the bar lowered.
But you can believe what you want.
From what I have read, maybe it didn`t need to be lowered.
To earn the Ranger tab, applicants must be able to complete 49 push-ups, 59 sit-ups, a five-mile run in 40 minutes, six chin-ups, a swimming test, a land navigation test, a 12-mile foot march in three hours, several obstacle courses, four days of military mountaineering, three parachute jumps, four air assaults on helicopters, multiple rubber boat movements and 27 days of mock combat patrols.

Yes they are. No offense; it's physical reality.
Though, perhaps not compared to, say, a <140 lb man; using the most athletic woman that you could find for comparison. If any reasonably athletic man of average weight gave you the impression that you or any woman could reliably (or otherwise) take him down then he was doing you a disservice.
No they couldn't, with the exception of professional MMA fighters or a well timed and placed cheap shot when I wasn't looking. Their enemies on the field will be looking. Additionally, the damage that I or any reasonably strong man could do with a single full power punch could be utterly catastrophic and life threatening.
All of this girrrl power cheerleading, in the forum of the battlefield, is going to lead to unnecessarily ruined lives. But carry on. I really don't care as its not me that is being forced to play this game. I do feel that men should be given the option of opting out of being in a combat platoon with any of these women. It's too life threatening, and no one should be forced to sacrifice their life to the experiment.
Here is the questions that come to mind. Will they be deployed into combat and who are they? Even if they do pass, many are not put into the first lines, and are barely used. Common practice.

Just out of curiosity, why do they want women in special forces? thought they want to downsize the military, no?
Because they want women to be top generals and admirals immediately, if not sooner, and the only way to make that happen is to get women through elite schools within the military.
Then the PC social engineers can go to work making them larger than life military heroes so they can be shoved into these no boys allowed top positions.
I know this is an elite organization within the Army, but aside from jumping out of planes, we did all that and more in marine corps recruit training.
There is something more to this story if 3 of 4 dropped out and this is all they had to do.
It's supposedly pretty damn grueling. Danish Special Forces - "Jægerkorpset" (yes, they exist - lots of Taliban could have wished otherwise) used to send over one or two to go through the course and bring home new techniques and knowledge. One of them wrote a book, back in the 1980s. Now, I know people aren't under oath in such matters, but if what he depicts even resembles reality, completing Ranger School is one hell of an accomplishment. Mentally and physically.
