The establishment Rs doubtless remember how utterly silly they looked when they were trying to elect a speaker during the Bill/Monica uproar, and their first two (IIRC) choices also had faulty-zipper syndrome.

Actually Nancy Pelosi has said very little on this other than GOP has to figure it out....It's their problem NOT mine more Democrats right NOW....SO Hey//Gop House needs to come up with a workable solution..and it's not the responsibility of Dem. side to come up with their bailout solution...It's long past that the party that screws up can rely on the OTHER party to come up with solutions...
LOL..When you welcome intolerant, non-negotiational types into one's party in order to maintain majority..THEN it's long past due they figure out what do do with politicians with a singular agenda..still with their political "Water Wings" some how control normal politicians who reach across isles to compromise..was actually labled "Blasphemy " by Extremists...Hell hath no fury when an elected official gets seen with the POTUS or other party folks...Traitorous behavour..Such silliness and actually rather CHILDISH..all the while taxpayers pay them 3 figure salaries to attend maybe 4-5 months a year doing the peoples business..Something's very wrong!!
I think ALL these folks should be paid hourly and not paid when missing from votes nor attending hearings etc...Those who take leave to run for office..get paid by taxpayers tho neglect their congressional duties ( which they are paid for) by rights should defer their salary..as THEIR funders are supporting their campaign..not to mention their C-Pacs~~ Million upon million ..SMH..Never mind the days wasted while on the phones wheeling and dealing with lobbyists!!

I'm not sure if Boehner has to stay until there is a new one. But I don't know what would happen if he just went all Bye Felicia to Congress on October 31st without a replacement.
They're all a bunch of crooked, lily-livered pantywaists who wouldn't know a day's work if they tripped over it. I'm convinced they're all being bribed or blackmailed, anyway.

Boehner quit because a group of Litmus Test Super Conservatives went gunning for him, McCarthy quit for the very same reason. This Litmus Test Super Conservatives (about 70 people) have let it be known that ONLY "they" can pick the next Speaker of the US House. Boehner & McCarthy both appear to believe that a Knock-Down-Drag-Out Battle over the Speaker position is NOT a "good thing" for the GOP.
Result is .... Boehner will stay in place.
I guess the Litmus Test Super Conservatives can call this a Major WIN. Congrats to them.
