Police are moving quickly to try and find others based on his cracked phone content before they could possibly strike or leave (if they haven't already).
A " large stash of guns and grenades" was not found in the truck.

Cargo hold contained a bicycle and some empty pallets.

The cab contained an automatic pistol, 2 fake rifles, a dead grenade, a cell phone and documents.

The Mirror is one of many UK tabloids known for sensational headlines, fabricated stories and outright lies. Once the tabloid publishes, similar international rags tend to jump on the stories.

People believe anything when it validates their perceptions.

I think we all know that it wasn't ISIS. The group took a day to claim credit. While some of the attacks they obviously are behind they are not behind every attack that happens. A lot of these people are operating independently which makes them much harder to track.

Thursday, this whack job was a loser, a nobody, unable to hold down a job, history of petty crimes, a loner, a wife beater in the process of being divorced. He likely blamed other's for the source of his problems instead of himself.

According to his own family and that of his soon to be ex wife, he was not a practicing Muslim.

24 hours later, the world knew his name and the power over life he had for a matter of minutes, the previous evening.

He seems to fit the profile of many mass murderers, regardless of religion.

Too premature to know if he was affiliated with a cell, was inspired by ISIS ideology of just another unbalanced loser looking to murder as many as possible before going out with a bang.

It seems as if the authorities are saying he had some links to Muslim extremist radicals like ISIS, they just aren't sure how "concrete" his ties were.
They seem to always say the motivations aren't clear, the guy was mentally ill, he wasn't devout, etc. Yet they've been warning for years of exactly these scenarios. ISIS goes after these people born Muslim, but feeling guilty of acting too western or not Muslim enough. It's still ISIS, and it's still Islamic terrorism.

This is the profile of an ISIS fighter. They want the losers, the lapsed Muslims feeling guilty, promising them that all sins will be forgiven. This guy sent texts to someone else, and they have arrested others in this matter. A co-conspirator would mean it's not a lone madman. But even if it was a lone madman, it still fits the profile they have been warning about since ISIS came on the scene.

Omar Mateen viewed ISIS propaganda film, including the gruesome murders they have put on the Internet. He probably viewed the film taken of the torture at the Bataclan in Paris that we're just now hearing about. And yet, our esteemed leaders and the media want people to think this was just a lone crazy guy conflicted by his homosexual tendencies.

EDIT: just wanted to say I don't take everything his wife says as fact.

All you indicated but he was also being seen by a psychiatrist and was medicated for anger issues, he also drank alcohol.

ISIS took credit and it appears he was self radicalized. He was not your run of the mill Mosque going radical but he latched onto a cause, or maybe he was just angry at the world.

Keep wishing, but your desire in this case won't come true.

The French Prime Minister has publicly said he was a radicalized Muslim...

Quote:
Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, the man behind the deadly Nice lorry attack which killed at least 84 people, was radicalised "very quickly", according to the French prime minister......

"The investigation will establish the facts, but we know now that the killer was radicalised very quickly, " Mr Valls said.

"The claim on Saturday morning by Islamic State and the fast radicalisation of the killer confirms the Islamist nature of this attack".

Officials said on Saturday that people questioned by police had indicated that Bouhlel had undergone a rapid transformation from someone with no apparent interest in religion.....

Mr Valls, who said security services have prevented 16 (MUSLIM) attacks over three years, said he believed Islamic State had manipulated an unstable individual to carry out the attack.

"Daesh gives unstable individuals an ideological kit that allows them to make sense of their acts ... this is probably what happened in Nice's case," Mr Valls said.

Nice lorry attack: 'Suspect radicalised very quickly' - ITV News
It appears that he was radicalized but he was crazy but it appears his Muslim faith had nothing to do with this, looking for a cause and he found one.
