Raising minimum wage and adding laws that help workers over employers would help the standard of living but Democrats refuse to reduce immigration for a couple decades. Economy would be best ever had immigration mostly stopped in 2000. Population growth due to immigration massively outpaced job growth.

I've read that gas prices come from the stock market, OPEC, the economy........

Jesus H. Christ.

Do you want to know what has been affecting gas prices the most over the last oh 15-20 years?

It's not the stock market (although this is closest), it's not the overall economy, it's not OPEC, and it's not even our ridiculous wars in the middle-east.

It's the commodities market. Specifically the margin requirement for trading oil. People have been treating our gas tanks like a casino for almost two decades now, and the media buries the story because no one wants it to end.

For example. 5 advantages of commodity vs. equity options | Futures Magazine

To his credit, Obama once entertained the idea of stopping it. I remember it well, because it was the FIRST TIME I thought i might actually gain some respect for that worthless bastard. He was talking about pushing to make the margin requirement on commodities the same as equities (stocks), as it always should have been.

Here's the press release. https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press...tion-oil-marke

...and here's the result......

Money, actually, does not work that way.

It's cute that you think responsibility can be so neatly and simply assigned. You might even say that out loud, in public, in front of people you work with.

We are not friends. You can call me an idiot if you please; I'm not the one trying to apportion long-term economic trends to the number of party members in a Congressional session.

Don't let me stop you. California was in a drought in the same period; can you please tell us what percentage of global environmental trends each party is responsible for?
This happens every time a liberal blames the recession on Bush and I point that Democrats controlled the House and Senate they follow with similar to what you say, government is not to blame (unless there are Republicans to blame it on).

please tell us what percentage of global environmental trends each party is responsible for?

I know I'm less responsible than Algore and Obama who fly around the world in private jets making speeches against burning carbon emissions.

The recovery from 2011 till now occurred with Republicans controlling the House and then both House and Senate, therefore, to the extent that recovery was due to government activity, it was mostly due to the Republican Congress.

If you disagree with the above you're a Democrat hack or idiot or both.
It happened under Bush's administration. It's his exactly for the same reason Obama is responsible for his, not Bush.

That's so illogical there's no way to process it, Spock could never understand or back that statement. Not sure if that is from ignorance or just bias.

Bias? It's a bias to note that a president is responsible for what happens during their administration?

The "buck stops here" is an out dated concept?

Feel free to believe or deny anything you want.
well the numbers show median income in 2009 $55487 in 2016 $56515, (it bottomed out in 2012) in 1989 for example it was $53367. So with all the ups and downs the end result very little improvement in 27 years. Can't blame Obama prior to 08 I know.

I own a business that has customers throughout the country and in my opinion based on buying patterns of my customers there is a large amount of people with little disposable income. Its been this way since 08. Yes there are people doing well. But the lower middle class and poor parts of the population even with increased social programs are struggling. Ironically people with incomes under 50K voted by double digits for Clinton.

The economy crashed and came back, just like it does over and over and over.

Both parties are pro-cheap-labor. Both parties are screwing the lower and middle classes with outsourcing and illegal immigration.

The Democrats and Republicans only pretend to compete against each other. Elections are just a distraction.

Wake up.
