Isn't the GOP supposed to be the party of less government intervention and smaller government?

Enforcement, court cases and prison sentences are going to cost the taxpayers a lot of money.

Colorado and Washington are going to lose a lot of money in tax dollars. Business will be forced to shut down and they will be replaced by drug dealers that hide from the law. Mexican drug cartels will be happy because they get their territory back from law abiding businesses that will shut down.

What I'd like to see happen is to have MJ reclassified as a schedule 2 narcotic to allow studies and legal prescribing by doctors as it does have medicinal purposes.
It should really be Schedule IV or Schedule V, considering that meth and cocaine are Schedule II

The legal marijuana industry has created over 18,000 jobs in Colorado since 2015. Colorado's economy is BOOMING and "pot tourism" plays an enormous role in that.

In 2016, Colorado sold over $1.3 BILLION worth marijuana sales, which in turn generated $150 MILLION in tax revenue. Nearly $45M of that tax revenue goes directly to Colorado public schools.

So, to recap: 18,000 jobs in Colorado's legal marijuana industry, and nearly $50M in tax revenue from weed sales that goes directly to public schools.

Question for people that want the federal gov't to enforce marijuana drug laws: Are YOU going to come out to Colorado and tell 18,000 people they're out of a job because "big government" (something conservatives dont' like by the way) is coming in and overriding state law? Are YOU going to come out here to Denver and tell elementary school teachers who need supplies for their students that the $50M in tax revenue from marijuana salesthat supports Colorado public schools is no longer available? No, i didn't think you were.

If you don't have the discipline to stop smoking pot because you believe it's a source of negativity in your life, that's your problem.

Just like the person that can't put down the cheeseburger. That's your problem.

Why do I have to pay for your lack of discipline?

There is no evidence that marijuana is physically addicting, so it's all about will power. If you don't have the will power, that's your problem.

Get more discipline in your life. People that fall into this trap are victims. Pathetic.

Default Trump administration signals a possible crackdown on states over marijuana

Smoke now, while you still can. Soon it can put you in prison.

I hate to say it, but......I told you so.

Trump administration signals a possible crackdown on states over marijuana - LA Times

The White House on Thursday put states that have legalized recreational-use marijuana on notice that federal law enforcement agents could be targeting them soon.

It was the clearest warning yet that the Trump administration may move to disrupt the marijuana trade in the eight states, including California, that have legalized the recreational use of pot.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters that the administration had no plans to continue the permissive approach of the Obama administration and that it viewed recreational marijuana use as a flagrant violation of federal law.

Spicer said recreational marijuana was a scourge, likening its widespread use to the opioid addiction epidemic

This is crazy. People who are in favor of this ban, realize that your kids can have their entire life ruined for smoking pot.

They represent the very worst this country has to offer the world. I also blame Democrats for nominating Clinton, which in turn has given us the worst President in U.S. history.
