He's a hypocrite, that's where the issue really is. If he called those guys in Charlottesville sons of ******* I'd honestly feel a little more like he ain't biased. But it's pretty obvious who he's kowtowing to.

Just my 2 cents.. If I am spending several thousand dollars to go to a venue .. air fare - care rental - hotel - food - souvenirs then be held hostage on peoples feeling.. that just chaps my Now what I can see is the " FANS" boycotting going to the games.. eventfully it will hit their sponsors.. the all might " BUCK"
If the players.. any sport want to protest fine no problem.. Pay the National Broadcasters or Regional Broadcasters air time and protest all you want. Then let the viewer decide listen to what you have to say or click change channel that simple. We are teaching the little ones bad manors.
We should stand silent or stand silent with head bowed or stand proudly with hand over are hearts and Thank Veterans pass and present for their sacrifice they gave for are freedoms we have..

They are protesting America.

If they want to protest police brutality, protest the cities that have an ongoing issue with it by refusing to play in those cities.

Baltimore has been said to have a problem with racism in its police department, so why not refuse to play Super Bowls in those cities.

Funny that they will boycott a city due to not letting men in the women's restroom, but they feel it's good to play there when it's a racist police department.

Sales Of Villanueva’s Football Jersey Skyrocket

Alejandro Villanueva, the lone football player on the Pittsburgh Steelers who stood during the national anthem Sunday while the rest of his team remained in the locker room, has become more popular than ever as sales of his jersey have skyrocketed.

...
Villanueva, who played football at West Point Military Academy, later went on to become an Army Ranger and served three tours in Afghanistan. He also was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor. Prior to playing for the Steelers, he played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014.

Steelers Coach Didn’t Want Army Vet To Stand For Anthem

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Sunday night that he did not want offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva to stand for the national anthem, instead of sitting it out with the rest of his teammates.

...
Tomlin said in a post-game press conference that he was looking for “100 percent participation” in whatever course of action the team took during the national anthem.
It's absolutely clear that these Coaches, Team owners and the NFL want to present a "unified" approach.
I think they are correct in doing that - Unfortunately the Steelers made their "we as a TEAM" announcement without the entire Team knowing what the "announcement/decision" would be. It was the Coach and a few "special" players whom made the decision and then it was announced as a "Team Decision".

Turns out that Villanueva wasn't in on that discussion or decision (as most of the team wasn't) and he chose to honor his OATH to the American Flag/Anthem/Constitution quietly by standing at the end of the tunnel with hand over heart. He didn't make a "political decision" and go out on the field, he just did as he always did - RESPECT the American Flag and the National Anthem.

Coach didn't like it ..... sounds like it was never a "Team Decision", but an Executive/Elite Decision.
These things have consequences.

True - you can't get more American than freedom of speech.

There should be no surprise there - he has been consistent for many years, especially during his campaign.

There's no reason to continue this discussion here

Trump has succeeded.

He has succeeded in turning the conversation completely away from the reasons for the protests to the protests themselves.

There's a segment of the population that cannot be reasoned with.
These people will endlessly talk about an NFL rule that does not exist.
They will claim that polls taken in 2016 show that people agree with Trump's statement from just days ago.
They will howl that people came to see the game - while not recognizing that standing for the anthem is no more a part of the game than kneeling is.
They will say that this is not a free speech issue, that it's between employer and employee while ignoring that the NFL has allowed Kaepernick's protest.
They will talk about "snowflakes" and "SJW"s while being offended about someone's posture while standing in front of the flag. They will demand that because they are offended that the action must be offensive even in the face of explicit statements to the contrary
They will say these protests disrespect people who fought for the flag and insult 97 year old veteran because he doesn't agree with them

They will do whatever they can to distract from the issue at hand - which was clearly stated by Collin Kaepernick
Quote:
There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder

This group of people cannot be reasoned with and they will overwhelm any attempt at rational discussion with their absurdity.

Thinking people, who believe that reason can overcome absurdity, will try to reason with them to no avail because reason only works on rational people.

There are, of course, people who are against the protests who do not fit into the above.
There are, of course, people who support the protests who are just as absurd.

Trump has pitted idiot against idiot and absurdity against reason.

For the most part these are pampered millionaire athletes who live privileged lives shielded from the realities of the world. That they hate the same country that provided them with their wealth and privilege comes across as that of a spoiled child. The US flag and the National Anthem are not the source of their grievances yet that is what they direct their ire at. Their message, whatever that may be, is lost in the delivery in that many of us shut down completely when the message is delivered with hate in this fashion. If they want me to hear their grievances, act like an adult and be respectful of the flag and anthem. Then I'll start listening again.
