We must do something too many people being killed by speed racers on the road thinking they are the fast and furious , congress is in the pocket of the auto lobby, no one needs a car or motorcycle that goes over 85 mph and for that matter no one needs a "military grade" humvee or jeep with their huge wheels rumbling down the road.
No one needs those in a civilized country with speed laws
Why don't we just ban driving? Go back to horses and carriages. No accidents, no carbon.
AI is the answer and it will solve most of the car accidental deaths problem.
Guns however have no tech to "brake" for when the user makes a mistake or murders people on purpose.
and frankly any attempts to put in checkpoints , make guns safer, limit access (like cars require you pass a test and carry insurance) are instantly attacked
it is all about money not amendments or freedoms.
Agreed with insurance for the bad guns and cars, that way we can socially engineer people away from them by raising the premiums to the point only a few will be able to afford them. That is brilliant thanks for mentioning that.

Well the constitution is rather outdated, the founders (old white guys) couldn't have envision all the modern tech of today. So technically only horse and carriage should fall under right to ownership as far as transportation, freedom of speech should be limited to pen pencil and paper, and guns to muskets.
you are right the 1st amendment is outdated the founders could never have conceived the internet, radio, tv and smart phones.

i am not missing any point. I see the OPs intent to conflate two completely different issues.
and btw car deaths are declining steadily even as car usage breaks records... we are already on a path to extremely low death rates and in one generation will have solved 95% of the problem even if we just stay the course.
You cannot say the same about guns, the problem is getting worse .

I would be for a regulation requiring Truckers to use the right hand lanes only. LOL
Why truckers? In my experience they are among the safest and most responsible drivers on the road.
If you want to do some good, ban Subaru and Prius drivers. Those vehicles seem to draw idiots. Had one run me off the road on my bike last night.
