Most conservatives, unlike liberals, do not feel compelled to force others to adopt their ideology. Many conservatives have a libertarian vein, which supports individual rights, rather than compulsory allegiance to political views. Modern liberals, on the other hand, have become more fascist and intolerant in nature, considering opposing views to not be simply a difference of opinion, but simply evil. Depersonalization of "opponents" is a core tenant to propaganda, which tends to appeal to those of limited intellect.
And like a few other people here, I'm prepared to wait for a very long time for the OP to present a serious rebuttal to this point; something stronger than:

I'm not out to "defeat liberals"; but I will do everything in my power to prevent sheltered juvenile ideologues from inciting a mob of pointing, grunting, half-literate looters to seize (by whatever means) the lawful property of people who actually worked for and earned it.

Puh-leeeese! Most of us have a better picture of earlier times, both from having lived closer to them, and from the narratives handed down within stable families by our ancestors; it's the Snowflakes who want to live in a fantasy world -- and on somebody else's dime,

If you are an American citizen, then President Trump is indeed your President. You may not like/respect him, but it doesn't change the relationship you as a citizen share with him as the President. I never liked/respected Barack Obama, but for 8 years, he was my President because he was the President for ever American citizen whether they liked it or not.

So you are cool with tyranny that dictates the fruits of everyone's labor belonging to Leviathan, but you aren't cool with tyranny that lets Leviathan dictate personal behavior. Pretty standard Democrat.

Actually, pretty standard non-libertarian way of thinking that about 98% of the population subscribes to. Everyone has a list of tyrannies they think are neato keen cool, and another list of tyrannies that are just an uncool bummer yo. The ironic thing is that on either side of the preferred tyrannies scale, both want the government imbued with nearly unlimited power to engage in the tyrannies they prefer, and zero power for the tyrannies they dislike. So one side has a majority for a bit, and their supporters want MOAR POWAH for Leviathan to punish the folks on the losing side. And the sides flip, and the cycle repeats. What ends up happening, given the utterly foolish and sophomoric need to punish other Americans with massive power increases granted to Leviathan? That's right, Leviathan just gets more freaking powerful and we all lose.

So go ahead, do your Democrat dance of "love me some economic tyranny, hate me some social tyranny, gonna give gubmint MO POWAH over the economy and show them 'publicans what's the what." All you do is feed the beast and make it grow bigger, more powerful and more hungry.

definitely, "Conserve" in "Conservative" is very apt

however, "Progressive" is more accurately "NeverHappyLookingToAlwaysChangeThingsBecauseImBor ed"

Traditionaly both parties were patriotic and held traditional social values based in judeo-Christian traditions. Were the parties differed was in economic policy, state vs federal power and taxation. Arguments about taxes, the place of unions in our economy and the level of government involvement with the economy were the highlight of the debate. Neither party advocated for socialism, communism, restrictions on free speech, or for extreme changes in our social values. Up until the turn of the century this is the way our two party system worked and it worked well.

Things have changed during this new century. Radicals have seized control of the Democratic Party. These radicals demand socialism, enforcement of political correctness through restrictions on free speech, elimination of the second amendment, the forcing of acceptance of gays, trannies and other sexual deviancy upon our society, the demonization of white America, open borders and all this being done in part through left wing violence and never ending protests.

I welcome a return to the old ways, the old two party system made our democracy what it was. It is obvious I am a conservative but there were a few democrats I chose to vote for years ago (more than 20 yrs). The sane moderate democrats of years ago have been driven from that party and mostly replaced by liberal firebrands. What do I want from the other side? If we are talking about this radical far left group that took over the Democratic Party then I want them defeated. Like any enemy of our country they should be crushed. I'll go even further and say they should be defeated by any means necessary, including revolution or civil war if necessary. The vision this far left group has for our country is so dangerous that we cannot tolerate the possibility of thier vision ever being implemented. We spent billions to prevent a soviet invasion, why should we tolerate it coming from radicalized elements of our own people? The left is a mortal enemy of freedom and the values this nation is supposed to stand upon. I'd rather see this nation burn than see them win.
It's not going to happen, as evidenced by the posts we see on CD everyday. We are so divided the only thing left to do is for one side to destroy the other and rebuild the country into what the winner wants it to be......
