First of all, immigrants who came to this country 100 years ago didn't expect to be handed documentation written in their native language. Nor did they expect to go to businesses where the workers were from a different country or native-born to speak the immigrant's language. Those immigrants of yore relied on friends or family to translate for them. The ones who never learned English or learned very little, tended to be the ones who came here when they were elderly.

Today, far too many immigrants, both legal and illegal, expect to have all documentation handed to them written in their native language. They want to get a drivers license but don't speak English? No problem! Just get a copy of it in one's native language. They go to school to talk about their kid, they expect the school to provide interpreters paid for by the taxpayers.

Back to the topic of the thread --- The students were talking while the teacher was trying to teach. That's disrespectful on its own, especially when they weren't even discussing math. And to have a conversation in Spanish on top of all that, is very rude. Who can blame the teacher for getting frustrated?
Actually signs and other documentation WERE often printed in native languages. How else would non-English speakers know which line to go in upon arriving here? How would they know which jobs to apply for and which rooms to rent?

Yes, family and friends did help them but America was QUITE multicultural as far as language went in those days.

Thread postings #119 and #142 discusses this in an intellectual context as to how we look back, learn and move forward.

Instead of slinging out condescending cycles of "slap stick"... it is an issue involving our society and specifically in this case young people. Yet, we still have so many callous minded adults, promoting bias of the past.

If the adult conduct is as exhibited in many threads, then it is evident that the Adult Population of many, (not all) are the big contributors to these type of issues and many come here in forums for pun and fun and bias and bigotry and offer up nothing to help improve and bring current day understanding unto challenges and situations. Sadly, some don't even care to help themselves grow, they simply make utterances that is aimed to promote their bias while blocking their own minds against growth and learning.

That's the madness of a system that has too much historical grooming in thinking themselves as being "superior" and thinking themselves as being some "model" to promote more delusions of superiority as if to try and infect an entirely new generation. That's truly sad!!!!

President Bush, spoke on these exact same elements of madness and mentality, yesterday, as did President Obama, speak on these exact same elements of madness and mentality .... as unfortunate as it is, it is quite likely and visibly evident only those who truly respect human diversity and the truth of a global world of society, will open their minds to grasp and understood what they said.
Some will sincerely understand the nature of learning they are speaking about, and come to appreciate and involve themselves in what it takes for growth and healing in American, Those of sincerity to do so will be willing to invest themselves to understand and grasp what they said, and it is such ones whom will come to respect the integrity they were speaking about and make the changes within themselves to be better human beings.

Others, will simply continue to go from thread positing to thread posting, still pushing their delusions of superiority, and never even consider to look in the mirror, or self review and learn that they might grow. Many are too afraid that if they let go of the delusions of superiority, that they will find they can't stand in a society of equality, and that type of fear exemplifies their own weakness... and their opposition to being one who is investing in growing and learning and finding the truths to make change to shed the inner weakness that props up their bias and bigotry and racist self diminishing cycle in which they spin, resulting in their continuing weakness and the continuing of trying to reinforce ideals that maintain such weakness... which is "haughtiness, bigotry and bias, as if they live to promote it.

You've obviously never worked a job where you had to deal with the public. If you did, you would know that even when dealing with a difficult person, you are still expected to do your job. If a customer is very difficult, then call a manager to deal with it.

It should never matter if a customer is wearing clothing with something on it supporting a candidate that you don't support. That doesn't give the employee any right to treat a customer like dirt. Period.
My sincerely held religious beliefs require me to treat all Trump supporters like dirt. Religious beliefs are sacred and many conservatives including Trump and Pence say they should override any Federal or State laws and even any notion of common decency. Just think of it as me not wanting to bake a cake for any MAGA cult members and it will be all good.

They also needed to know which jobs they could not apply for.

Feel free to speak whatever language you want when having a private conversation. I, for one, don't give a darn. If you are doing it with the hope that you will make someone's head explode, then that's really sad and a waste of time.
There ARE people that get annoyed even if you're talking in a foreign language in private. Enough to even kill.

If it's in private then they couldn't even here it, duh. Please site your claims that anyone has tried or even suggested they would kill someone for speaking a foreign language. I'll wait.

Nope, that is categorically false. Christie main mission has been to erode the teachers union as a result they have no where near the power they held 8 years ago, they been taking paycuts to their tiers, done away with tenure.
