I have absolutely no love lost for a Chuck Schumer, and he should have passed house immigration reforms, but it’s very uncharitable and inaccurate to say he bears responsibility for this attack. For one thing have we even proved this individual would have been deported under those guidelines, or not allowed in to begin with?

It’s equally stupid when every liberal pounces on non-news like it’s the lynchpin in their quest to behead their president, or blames him for things that far exceed his control or even tenure in office. This post from the OP is similarly inane. The problem isn’t Schumer here.

Do you understand that this guy likely came to this country with the best of intentions? It's unlikely that he came here with the intention of doing what he did yesterday. If that was his intention, why would he have waited SEVEN years to act out? He was radicalized HERE. What sort of vetting predicts that a person without any terrorist connections would be radicalized AFTER moving to the United States? Do you think President Trump has some sort of scientific formula that tells us who will become a radical later in life?

I think properly vetting people is common sense. I don't think that any vetting, extreme or otherwise, is able to see years into the future. And so those who are whining about vetting in this case aren't really talking about vetting at all. It's just more of the we are afraid of Muslims so we shouldn't let them into this country tripe.

Governor Cuomo, a politician, is asserting he was radicalized in the United States....like Cuomo could possibly know that to be the facts the day after this horrendous attack.

By the way, Saipov had a wife and three children in the US. He was willing to murder Americans and die a martyr rather than care for his very young children. How does America fight an Islamic ideology with such values?
If he was a terrorist 7 years ago when he came to this country, why did it take him SEVEN YEARS to take action?

This.

The people on this thread are simply saying, "I don't like Muslims, and I am afraid of them, therefore we should ban them from ever coming here." They are the snowflakiest of snowflakes.

Well, I say, the largest mass shooting ever was by a white American man. Should we also start banning them or treating them like garbage just because Stephen Paddock was off his rocker? Yea, didn't think so.

I see no one trying to assign blame other than you OP.

As with the Las Vegas shooting, the only responsible party is the one who perpetrated the crimes.

All the hand-wringing in the world isn't going to change the fact that there are people, both native born and immigrant who want to do others harm.
Unless you can come up with some sort of "Minority Report-"type analysis that will predict exactly who that might be, all of this finger-pointing is just a waste of time.

I get that people feel powerless and are angry and scared particularly since no matter who is in the WH, these events keeps happening.
Did anyone actually believe that 45's bluster would scare the hate out of potential terrorists?

Really?

Bottom line: there is no magic solution to warped human nature.

It is reported is Mosque was considered "high risk" and being monitored by NYPD. So while social media may have played a role, it is also possible that his affiliation with this Mosque that may have approved of this kind of behavior and/or even celebrated it. If we know certain Mosques may be recruiting their followers for this kind of activity than we need to be able to stop it. How? Who knows. But we need to be able to stop it.
