The congresswoman should not have taken that woman's seat. She (Rep. Lee) looks even more foolish to bring race into the equation.

But to equate any of this to Rosa Parks and what she struggled/protested against doesn't pass the smell test. Getting bumped from first class on a private airline in 2017 isn't even remotely close to what R. Parks faced living in the Jim Crow south in the 1950's.

I think Sheila Jackson Lee should have to change her name seeing as how it has not one but 2 very well-known Confederate generals in it.

Welcome to the " Jack Crow " nation.

Where we scrub history and tell everyone they can't talk about Jim Crow because its a part of history we don't like and so it must be scrubbed away with the statues. Ya see Jack Crow don't give a ship high in transit about the past.

Well her facebook page is taking a hit. She doesn't wonder why an angry person is taking a picture of her in her seat. Guess I'm the only one who would have asked the crew.

It's the same kind of attitude we see from many third world leaders and it's why organizations like FIFA, The International Olympic Committee and the U.N. are so corrupt, inefficient and difficult to respect.

United has buckled to her many times and has made the decision that she will always get her way for fear of being branded as racist. If you don’t let her have her way, she declares you a racist. You could be an 8-year-old cancer patient who is taking the elevator to get chemo and you’re racist for making her wait for the next elevator.
^^ In agreement with this.

The bumped passenger was still back at the check-in desk, so she had no way of knowing who bumped her from the assigned seat. She only found out it was Sheila Jackson Lee upon boarding the plane and taking her new seat in economy class. Therefore, Ms. Lee calling the woman a racist is mindless, knee-jerk liberal spin. Typical of the entitled politicians these days.

Shame on Sheila Jackson Lee for placing herself above all others and convincing/manipulating United to bow to her every whim. She is a repugnant individual who thinks she is superior to everyone else.

This gives a lot more detail about what happened:

https://www.facebook.com/jeanmarie.s...13622092980978

I have no sense that she is making any of this up, and if what she stated is true, a fellow Texas congressman traveling with Lee told her that Lee has done this several times before to other passengers (bump them so she could sit where she wanted).

Not surprised Lee would use the race card, the use of the race card as a crutch has been so ingrained in our society that it becomes an automatic crutch when all else fails (and to drown out your own faults).

Reminds me of that saying, "Let them eat cake."!

Little wonder why politicians rank so very low on the public opinion scale.

Edited to add: OMG, you have to look at Sheila Jackson Lee's Facebook profile and her pathetic attempts to excuse her actions. Merciless and beautiful trolling

People would be losing their minds had a black passenger been demoted to a lesser seat to accommodate a white male representative or senator. Sheila Jackson Lee gets a free pass though.

It seems like representatives, by definition, would want to sit in economy with their constituents, not insulate themselves and hide in first class?
