The "cancelled ticket" Fairy Tale was the 2nd or 3rd story that United put out as an excuse.
Anyone around here ever flown on an Airplane after 9/11? Anyone ever got through TSA Security checkpoints with NO TICKET? United says she "cancelled" her ticket and yet their 1st story when she attempted to Board with her 1st Class Ticket and Seat Assignment in hand - was ..... "you are not even in our System".
She certainly had a VALID Boarding pass when she went through Security, she checked in an hour and a half before her Flight - the LAST leg of her flight to get home after an International Trip.
Really??? then how in Hades did she managed to get in that Boarding line? Whatever fool agent actually did the Dirty Work for Shiela MsEntitled just wiped this poor passenger's trip out of the computer. They didn't even make an attempt to move her to another seat -- they just wiped her out of the computer.

Exactly right. Kibby's logic is irrefutable. How could a person with a cancelled ticket get through security? Why did she have a valid boarding pass for the flight if she had already cancelled her flight, as United claimed in order to come up with a reason the seat she reserved was no longer available?
It seems that the Sheila Jackson Lee supporters here cling to their echo chamber. Why deal in logic and facts when pushing emotional buttons like "racism" feels good to liberals and allows them to feel morally superior? The entitlement mentality in the liberal community is insidious. They believe they are automatically right and morally superior, no matter what the facts are.
The woman did not cancel her flight. United cancelled her flight - that's why they wanted to pay her off.
They paid her off to make the problem go away, not to admit guilt. They threw freebies and money at her because they have those resources. They don't have time to sit around babysitting some woman that's fake outraging crying for attention. She clearly cancelled the flight herself then tried to claim the seat she vacated, then went into victim mode once she saw who was sitting in "her" seat.

The passenger had arrived in from Guatemala some time before and had spent about 2 hours in the United lounge waiting on the flight to DC which had been delayed. Now I'm reliably told that you can't get into the United lounge unless you have a VALID FIRST or BUSINESS class ticket.
She stated she went to the gate around an hour and a half before the flight was due to leave (after its delay) when she presented her boarding pass / printed ticket she was refused the seat she had booked.
At no time does she ever mention she cancelled anything, only the airline mentions that. The airline also allegedly tried to intimidate her and even resorted to outright rudeness / sarcasm even though she had a boarding pass in her hand.

The bold applies in this case. It is not because she a liberal... I just don't like how she treats people (especially her staffers) - and she has a history... a long one.

All I see is this woman trying to get her 15 minutes of fame. I'm looking at this situation based on what is presented here. As soon as it was revealed she cancelled her flight, all of a sudden she stopped talking to the media. She knew the lie was getting a little too big so she shut it down. She'll be fine, they gave her even more freebies...mission accomplished on her part. Fake outrage of the day.
