There's a Spirit thread going on over at the Travel Forum.
But this one should stay on POC - if only to take a break from all the dissension.
My college-age kid FINALLY got a hamster last month, after a couple of false starts on my part. Rodent or not, that Sammy the Hammy is one cute little guy.
No way DD would flush him down a toilet. Full confidence here, that she would not have boarded that plane.
Just now back from a Spirit flight with Sammy left safe in his cage at a friend's house.
DD's emotional support animal is an old teddy bear that, yes, does travel.
Much more sensible choice, that.

Was the hamster thrown into the airplane toilet? If so that would be a cruel death, because airplane toilets use harsh chemicals to dissolve organic matter.
ever since I read this story about the girl flushing her hamster, I've been thinking about what a cruel girl this was to kill her pet. I've thought about that poor little animal's suffering many times and the cold heartedness of this young woman.....as such cruelty to animals always shocks me. animals aren't inanimate objects.

Oh, don't worry - by about 10 posts in, we'll get some joker trying to blame this on "Obama," whining about "snowflakes needing hamsters for support," or claiming that if Trump had touched the dead hamster, it would have returned to life and voted Republican. Lower your expectations, and you won't be disappointed around here.
I really hate it when I have to disagree with people I like, but so far, no one has done this. Why invite it?
I do think people who are laughing about this are a little sick.
Who needs a damn "support hamster:?! Is she 5 years old?
