Trump can threaten to sue her....

....but Mueller could send her to jail.

Of course that would be seen as disloyal by His Orangeness and the Trump family, so much would depend upon how deep Hope Hicks wants to remain in the good graces of that man and family.
Worrying about that didn't seem to stop Sean Spicer from writing his book.

At this rate, if everyone who has left writes a book, Trump's Presidential Library might need to add extra shelves.

They don’t have libraries dedicated to pop-up books... well, not yet at least.

More on all of the brew-ha-ha over Hicks and Sessions today:

The Loneliest Man In America

Even Richard Nixon had Bebe Rebozo. And by the end, he was still pacing the halls, talking to the paintings.

Donald Trump is close to having no one.

Every president gets lonely. It’s a lonely job. But the president who spent his life desperately seeking attention and getting all of it anyone could ever want might be the loneliest one ever.

He’s about to get lonelier.

AND, these types of people don't do time. His "punishment" will be self-inflicted and probably involve the total bankruptcy of his Real Estate company. He is sinking fast unless some foreign countries give him money for his bad real estate deals.
I recall from a Robin Williams bit years ago

"They closed down the back nine, time to riot."

"Psst, we're bustin' out, going over the curb tonight."

Hicks likely left of her own accord, but the timing is odd.

Will her departure matter? "On a political level, likely not. Her departure, however, may be bad news for Trump from a legal standpoint. "

-- She's a direct witness to much of the day-to-day going on in the WH, was present on Air Force One "for a critical episode in the Russia affair" and "was involved in the drafting of a memo that did not accurately recount the reason for the Trump Tower meeting in June 2016.

- Hicks "has already spoken to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, but freed from the White House, she may be just a tad more inclined to disclose information or to help guide the special prosecutor through the events of the past year."

- "She also, and this is key, worked with Trump in his real estate business...As Mueller begins to delve deeper and deeper into Trump’s financial affairs and his connection to Russian money, she may have an unusual inside account as to how he operated and the people with whom he interacted."

Speaking of the President's real estate business, any news from his Panama property this afternoon?

Could be wrong but believe EP is much like self incrimination; it only works if you do so of own free will. OTOH if brought into court or whatever agree to start talking, then that would be another matter.

Cannot see how DT or anyone else could prosecute someone for willingly giving truthful evidence. Again using Scooter Libby as an example, lying to cover a POTUS or someone else high in the administration carries huge risks.

First and foremost you better be darn sure (to extent possible), these people are going to have your back. GWBII and Dick Cheney had a famous falling out because the former didn't grant Mr. Libby a pardon even though the latter did all but go down on bended knees to obtain.

That sad story while totally applicable to Hope Hicks situation should still serve as a reminder; in politics you're only protected long as you're of use, that and or you've got a trump card to play. Otherwise when stuff hits the fan people will forget you even existed much less all the "favors" you did on their behalf.

Look back at how much "executive privilege" helped Richard Nixon and the people around him circa 1974.

This is not a never-before-seen event; maybe the exception is people who voted for the orange one don't believe anything, and even if Trump and his team did obstruct justice, collude with Russia, lie, and other crimes, his supporters simply don't care.

Back in the days of Nixon, people very much did care, were aghast at the crap Nixon was doing, and were none too pleased at the crimes he committed. And that included people who voted for him. No one was calling the Woodward/Bernstein articles "fake news." The information coming out was straight from the #2 in the FBI, though that wasn't known at the time.
