Posts like this really show what the true motive is behind the pro-life movement. It isn't about the baby. It's about imposing fundamentalist Christian sexual ethics on women. That's all it's about. That's why most pro-life people are also against birth control and for abstinence-only sex education. If it was really about the babies, conservatives would be pushing for policies that reduce abortions and also wouldn't seemingly stop caring once the baby is born. It's not about that though. It's about controlling people's sex lives. If they can control a person's sex life, they can control them.

Bingo.

This is exactly what it's about. If it was about babies, those same people would support social programs to help mothers feed them, clothe them, house them, and get better jobs so they can support their kids.

But, they do not.

Because they do not actually care.

Pro-life really should be Pro-birth.

If pro-lifers cared about these babies they wouldn't be so hell bent on reducing or entirely removing the social safety nets that some of the parents and these babies will need.

As soon as that baby is outta of the womb is bootstrap time.

PS Its also a way to punish unmarried sexually active women.

Spot on! Instead of focusing on the "heartbeat bill," one would think the pro-lifers would take on this:

Quote:
Babies born in America are less likely to reach their first birthday than babies born in other wealthy countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), a new study found.
Quote:
The reasons the U.S. has fallen behind include higher poverty rates relative to other developed countries and a relatively weak social safety net, says lead author Ashish Thakrar, medical resident at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System.

“The poorer children are, the worse their health outcomes are,” says Thakrar, whose team found that poverty among U.S. children has been higher than in the 19 comparable OECD countries since the mid 1980s.

Agreed.

I recall the uproar from some Conservatives when Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke of how 'it takes a village' to raise a child. Of course, when one examines the context, she was speaking of health care, school, police, fire fighters, etc.

Yet, the Conservative response would have led one to believe that Ms. Clinton was advocating that all children be brought up in state-sponsored institutions or such.

Free birth control, which is already provided at over 14,000 Public Health Department Family Planning Clinics, nationwide.

“We’re not hiding that at all. A lot has changed since 1973, including Justices, and frankly, the Court got it wrong...”

Don't think it will be long now before Roe v. Wade will be overturned. A day to celebrate.
Even the original woman has said she made a BIG mistake in getting an abortion and having the chance again would NOT do it.

Religion is, and always has been, a form of social and behavioral control.

And now, just attempting to control members of their own religion is not enough. They want to control everyone and make them conform to their own religious beliefs.
