Instead, because she thinks she's special and laws don't apply to her, cops need to use force.
I think a lot of this acceptance of what actually amounts to police brutality comes from all the cop shows we've been inundated with over the years. My wife used to love watching "Cops" and it never failed to amaze me the way the police on the show would handle the people they were arresting, and not just those who weren't complying. I've seen them slam people on their face who had their hands up and were down on their knees. In no way is it necessary to use that kind of force on an individual who has already basically given up, but what happens is the officers adrenaline is pumping, and they go overboard. And after seeing this over and over on these cop shows people just begin to think that's just how it is. That it's normal to straight up beat people down in the name of the law. I think we need to remind the police that they are "peace" officers and that they are public servants. They need to be reminded what "necessary force" actually means. I mean, don't get me wrong, I generally support law enforcement in their endeavors. But that does not change the fact that these guys often go overboard when making an arrest.

she was wrong for underage drinking

she was wrong for the assault

do you really want to take the side of a criminal??? let me guess, you also support the illegal aliens too
I like to discuss the current going on to stay informed but I hate how.often people just make things up to, well, I'm not sure why especially something that has been covered over and over?

Did you bother to read the article where it noted she passed two breathalyzer tests or do you not really care?

You seem to be ingoring the fact that it is illegal to be in possession of any alcohol on the beach if you are underage. It does not matter if you are drunk or not. If its open or not. Its illegal.
It also does not matter that when you were younger you would not have been harrassed for drinking when you were 19. That is irrelevant (as you would say).
The idiot girl did not deserve to be punched. It was way overboard and totally uncalled for. However, she was breaking the law, pushed a cop and completely laughed in the face of authority.

The claim was that she was drunk. You are the one willing to ignore the lies.

Well well, this is why people state that we need to find out the entire context of such things before making a judgment call.

Looks like the lady punched the cop in the torso and was combative throughout.

She wasn't really defending herself. She was resisting. She DID have the right to
  • give her name
  • not run
  • not punch the cop
  • not kick the cop
  • not spit on the cop
and
  • not act like a self centered, entitled, pompous jackass.

Listen, this is MY neck of the woods.
If it is found that she was in the wrong I hope she gets to book thrown at her.
If it's found that the cop(s) were in the wrong I hope they get the book thrown at him.

However, even if the cop(s) are found to be in the wrong SHE should get no payout at all from the town. She escalated the situation. shoobies

I do not care whose neck of the woods this is. The officer threatened to "take her down". He had no justification to do that. She should be able to defend herself.

LOL, defend her self from what? The police ...rental cops ask her some questions and she refuse ok take her in I have no problem with that and you seem to miss (as you always do) another fact that she had the beer ,so whether she was drunk of not there are TWO things here , one ..she is under age ,Two ....no alcohol on the beach and in the video she is seen walking away ...which whether you like it or not is resisting arrest. My problem is that the THREE of them could not handle a "unarmed" girl.
