Mueller did not expect that he would need to present the evidence yet, like you said. But there's zero doubt he has it, he didn't charge people by picking their names out of a hat. He already has guilty pleas related to this.

I don't know if he felt pressured to show something publicly, or if he was trying to rattle some feathers, but Russia responded smartly.

The judge might not grant this request, but it's not often that 'matters of national security' are used in criminal trials.

If it's not granted, maybe he attempts to dismiss the charges without prejudice. He'll get fought on that, and might have to dismiss them entirely if he feels like the evidence released would do more harm to the investigation.

These guys weren't the key guys anyway, they were the runners, and he can probably afford to lose them. The optics won't be great, and Trump will shout from the rooftops, but it would certainly not be sufficient grounds to end the investigation for cause.
Mueller was definitely grandstanding.

He would have known before filing the indictments whether the 'evidence' was too sensitive to go to discovery... in which case the indictments should never have been brought.

in what way.

Maybe you are not aware, but Trump cannot pardon everyone, anywhere at anytime.

now that you know that, i want you to think about WHY Mueller might have made sure charges were brought in various districts and against people in various locations....

hang on clearly you are not going to look that up so...

Mueller is simply making sure that Trump can't end the investigations by firing him or by pardoning everyone or by doing both.

Mueller is doing a great job and the when polled the public want Mueller to continue.

If Mueller continues to delay the rights people have when charged Trump is going to get an excellent reason to fire him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the indicted companies and people all foreign? Are any of them being held?

I have evidence but I can't show it to you.

Is that right?

poor Mueller, he's running out of attention so he might as well create some for the rubes.
