Are you joking? Just read the many comments in this forum dealing with illegal immigration in the past couple of weeks and the subject of going after the employers who hire illegal aliens has been brought up numerous times, geesh! The illegal aliens are just as guilty as those who hire them. No one drags them over the border to work unlawfully and their reasons for doing so irrelevant and not justifiable. No one has a right to a better life by breaking laws and taking from others what doesn't belong to them. They know what they are doing is wrong. Both need to be held accountable.
The subject isn't "immigration" it's illegal immigration. Are you confused? I also live in Calif. and know how devastating illegal immigration has been to our state. The only ones who benefit from illegal immigration are those who hire them for profit while the rest of us get the shaft in terms of lost jobs, reduced wages and sharing in the over $100 billion a year that illegal aliens cost us.
The last time the GOP introduced e-verify to reign in the employers it was voted down by the Democrats or the Dems attach an amnesty to it. Maybe it is they you need to address.
You think Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are hiring undocumented workers?
Most large scale employers do the eVerify thing even when the state does not require it.
It’s all about small business which are often corporations and household seeking cheaper sources of labor.
So all the meat packing plants that've been busted over the last decade are "small business"? How's about Corporate Agri-Business who hold millions of acres of farm land?
Oh, just stop it! If you think it's only Republicans that hire illegal aliens for profit you are badly mistaken. Pelosi just for one example has been know to hire them for her grape vineyards. Jobs aren't the only thing that bring illegal aliens here birthright citizenship for their kids and benefits do also. All of these incentives need to be removed.
No conservative that I know of is just blaming the Democrats for this problem as this problem started decades ago under several administrations. So why do you just blame the Republicans?
Exactly! Speaking of Vineyards hiring ILLEGALS, having worked in the Wine industry for a bit I know for a fact they hire ILLEGALS and treat 'em like crap. The HUGE Winery I worked for actually had a field supervisor who charged these grape pickers a "fee" to work every day.
Small business and Republicans are only to blame my arse. Profits are apolitical, they don't care which party you belong to...
There is nothing in the 14th Amendment giving illegals citizenship. It didn't even grant Native Americans citizenship for goodness sake! If they find it in there, it's judicial activism/tyranny, not actually a valid interpretation of the 14th Amendment.
But there's nothing that excludes it either. It says "all persons" born and "subject to jurisdiction" (which could be *interpreted* as citizenship). The founders didn't just throw extra words around to make it look impressive, they used "subject to jurisdiction" for a reason. For one, diplomats residing in your country are not pledged to your country but their own, so any children born to diplomats do not get birthright citizenship. As for illegals, I'd argue that they are pledged to the country of their citizenship not necessarily the country in which they are currently located. After all, that's how the Mexican consulates can represent Mexican illegals because Mexico has jurisdiction over Mexican citizens.
Illegal immigrants do actually pay payroll taxes. It's the easiest way for corporations to enjoy the benefits but avoid charges of tax evasion. That illegal immigrants cannot (and do not) receive Social Security, for example, means that they are paying into a system they can never qualify to receive.

A baby born here is a person and subject to the jurisdiction of this country.
