Rosenstein states the exact reason why no Americans were indicted Friday, while also stating that other investigations were ongoing. Furthermore, the indictment stated that there was an American with connections to the Trump Administration, in contact with the Russians.

The Russian influence was massive before the election. If they have been even more involved after the election, well... when you dupe an entire country into doing what you want, you move onto the next phase. It's a hostile adversary after all, something Republicans used to remember.
