You think spending your tax money to give farmers money they are losing because of Trump's bad policy is indicative of an unselfish person?

WHAT?

He's not using his money -- he is using our money -- and is buying votes -- like any other swamp politician.

He's not fixing anyone's mistakes but his own.

Trade not AID as the farmers are saying.

Much of what is written here is perplexing (and even contradictory) in nature.

What else is new? But people are hypocrites and he give many of them exactly what they want and ask for. Can you blame him?

Example - didn't most Americans support the tax cuts (out of debt and deficit....and 100% against the ideal of balancing the budget and cutting the debt)???? I think they did. I didn't.

People can be bought - cheap, it seems, and these "hypocrites" know that.

90% of the issues that "republicans", "conservatives" and "libertarians" claimed were close to their hearts have been given the opposite treatment by the GOP and current admin, and guess what? That 40% plus of Americans still want more of the same.

If people want lies, immorality, incompetence, hypocritical actions, etc....well, the pols will surely provide it on demand.

Of course they don't. These farmers are all Trump supporters. They got what they voted for. Now we're supposed to bail them out? Are they going to pay us back? Are the farmers going to giver us back the $12 BILLION gift we're paying for them?

But Trump will do it and not give a damn about what anybody thinks about i because he is all about his supporters and will change his stances a thousand times if it fits his narrative.

Yet these are the same supporters who castigate people who are poor or need healthcare, talking about how people should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and be independent! They're all about not having government interference until they need it. Damn hypocrites.

These farmers need to be adults and face the consequences of their actions. If they voted for trade wars, they cant go crying to the taxpayer when the trade war hits.

Farmers are the backbone of America and there was no way Trump was going to let them suffer due to the tariffs. $12B will be a drop in the bucket once these trade deals are renegotiated & the tariffs lifted. As they say "It takes money, to make money.".

Good news on the tariff front, btw. The newly renegotiated NAFTA should be ready within a couple months now that the US and Mexico are close to a deal. If Canada doesn't want to renegotiate, the US & Mexico will sign a bilateral trade deal and end NAFTA, leaving Canada on their own. Canada, who's already been abandoned by the EU & Mexico, is in an economic free fall & can't last more than a couple more months. They're running out of time and have no leverage. Expect the tariffs to be lifted and a new NAFTA by the midterms.

We were doing so...to a degree, but it constantly gets interrupted.

I can't imagine any other country in the world where a vast number of people want car that pollute more and get worst mileage. Yet many Americans want this very thing.

The die is cast. Short of some amazing educational program that extends to every American, we are pretty much headed down the list in terms of most measurements.
We focus too much on the short term while others look to the long term.

That's great short term... Long term its a disaster.

For a second there I thought you were just sharing some wishful thinking...

None of what you mention is true.
