Chalk up another poster who thinks an economy is made healthier by higher prices, more taxes, fewer choices, fewer jobs...

Any private business can strike whatever deals they like, but selling products in the United States is a privilege that is earned.

The question then becomes, "What have you done for me lately?"

As for higher prices, believe it or not we had a functioning economy before we had a four to one trade imbalance with the People's Republic of China.

The only real differences were that workers earned more and the American made products we purchased were the best the world had to offer.

The taxes you mentioned (tariffs), are voluntary taxes that individuals pay only if they want a foreign made product.

Sellers are invited here by american buyers. You do not speak for anyone but yourself.

By the way. Per your article. The president has said he could impose tariffs of 20 to 25 percent on auto imports.

A niche market who can afford those cars already coming in, are akin to the Bugatti Veyron owner that pays a Million dollars or more for a car, then cry about a 22k dollar oil change...

Finn. That's vehicles being IMPORTED.
The tariffs will be applied to vehicles imported.
If the manufacturer decides to spread that cost across the board on their domestic produced vehicles, that's their choice.

Wait a minute. Hold the phone.

Are my eyes deceiving me here in this thread?
Weren't leftists here who were critical of Trump's tax cuts, and howling for taxing the rich, now complaining that the rich are being taxed? LOL this gets more amusing every day...

Exactly what cars are being imported from Europe?

Oh noes.... cityiot libs Audi BMW Mercedes are going to cost more not fun when taxes effect you now, is it?

BMW made 371,000 cars in the United States in 2017, exported 272,000 of these, sold the remaining 99,000 U.S.-built cars in the U.S. market, and imported roughly 255,000 cars for U.S. buyers in 2017.

This is what the tariffs are addressing^

99k domestically produced BMWs opposed to 255k imported BMWs.

What's this?
He said European Union?

Wait a minute... could that mean?
Lamborghini (owned by VW/Audi) BMWs, Ferrari, Maserati (Fiat/Chrysler) Niche market Wolfsburg VWs, LandRovers, Jaguars, Niche market HIGH END luxury cars/SUVs being built in european countries, and imported to America, are being subject to a 25% tariff?

I'm confused.
Weren't the leftists here screaming over tax cuts and firmly believe in taxing the rich for more social program funding? Oh you've changed your minds now that it has an impact on you, but silence when you tried your hand at raising fuel taxes in the name of "Muh Glowbull Wamingz" to impact pickup truck owners. Silence when ever restrictive emissions control devices were mandatory that causes decreased longevity and increased fuel consumption along with down time for catastrophic failures. But outrage over BMW Mercedes Audi Wolfsburg VWs land rovers jaguars etc etc.

Are we having a moment of clarity an epiphany that higher taxes are a bad thing?

And what happens when the EU slaps reciprocal tariffs (25%) on say all X series made in the US, and exported to Europe. Care to guess who is affected then?
