Speaking for all working americans are you? Countries don't trade, businesses do and trade is best left to them. You dont support private businesses having the freedom to make their own trade deals? Sounds like you think govt owns the business a.k.a. socialism.
Chalk up another poster who thinks an economy is made healthier by higher prices, more taxes, fewer choices, fewer jobs...
Why people argue with cultists I can’t understand. They will never change their minds so why bother? They are living in Trumplandia. Where everything Trump does is absolutely right and no one should question it.
It is interesting to see (supposed) right-wing people cheer on something that is usually a far-left idea.
And yes, I think it is a dumb idea.
It is interesting to see the "party of the working man" attack someone doing something to help the working man. Something that Democrats had called for for years. I guess Democrats are done pretending that they care about working people.
Funny, in the last week there was a post about why could we not be like Germany, well, this is the kind of things places like Germany do. And yes, conservatives are for free trade, but a deal where we go zero tarriff with a trading partner who slapps a tarriff on us is not free trade.
I was exporting a product when NAFTA passed. I was all excited that my Canadian clients would supposedly no longer pay a tarriff when buying my goods. You can imagine my disgust when NAFTA actually provided for Canada doubling the tarriff on my goods while Canadians could ship the same products here tarriff free. That is NOT free trade.
I actually hope he goes ahead and does this. Would love to see the repercussions of him doing something like that. Time to grab the popcorn and start watching.
Exactly what I was thinking. Please please let Trump do this.

I'm not a Democrat. And I believe in helping the working man, very much so. But tariffs are not a great way to do it. They are rather disastrous in most cases, economically, especially if you look beyond the industry they're aiming to help.
A better strategy is to actually invest in the retraining and repurposing of our workforce.
