Reminder: Trump said he was being audited, but the IRS released a statement that he was NOT being audited, but even if he were, that would not prevent him from releasing them. So Trump was lying.
Your reminder is incorrect.

The IRS never comments on specific taxpayers unless in a court. To do so would be a violation of the privacy laws they are bound by.

The IRS never said he WAS or WAS NOT being audited. All they said was that anyone can release their own tax return to anyone else whether or not they are being audited. In other words, they stated the obvious. Anyone with half a brain already knew this. Millions of Americans give out copies of their tax returns to get mortgages every year for example without getting the permission of IRS........whether or not they are being audited.

Trump never said he COULDN'T release the return due to an audit, he said he wasn't releasing it because of an audit. A reasonable position given an audit could change the return. Further reasonable as he's not required to release it under any circumstances despite past precedence.

I'm really curious why you spun all this to make the statement that Trump was lying. Did you really not understand that any American can do whatever they want to with their own tax return? If so, does it not frighten you that you are so easily led by media lying to you?

because he was. he promised to release them, has the power to do so, has nothing inhibiting him from doing it and yet hasn't done it.

You totally mischaracterized what the other poster said Trump was lying about.

Other than that, a promise not kept is not necessarily a lie.

That promise was made before Trump realized fully that half the country is deranged and some portion of that deranged half is willing to stop at NOTHING to bring down his presidency.

I don't blame him at all for not giving them his tax return to pick apart for years.

Those of us who elected him don't give a damn about his tax returns.

What have we ever learned from any presidents tax returns?

The most interesting thing I remember is the Clintons taking some outrageous charitable deduction for Bill's used underwear. Gross. Why do we need to know that?

Then, when he couldn't produce a valid birth certificate ...well, we all know the rest.
Hawaii is part of the US and he didn't need to show his birth certificate. He showed the long and short one.

It wasn't forged and you know it. Get over it. Learn to think for yourself.

Maybe he thought they'd become collectibles, you know, like the blue dress. Funny, though, the IRS really frowns on collectibles.

Another nothingburger thread from the bitter Left hoping for anything to get Trump on.
I would assume that when law enforcement is following a trail of money laundering, tax returns might be a good source of information.

Obama produced his income tax returns.

Not sure what your silly video had to do with anything, since that pertains to the wacko conspiracy theorist people's Islamaphobia, about Obama secretly being a Muslim, etc.

Whether you liked Obama's ideology or policies, he was an ethical, honest, kind, respectful, brilliant, hard working President, who did go out of his way to try to work with the Republicans. He was not corrupt, like the current President. And most certainly didn't work with a hostile foreign country to interfere with America's elections. Even if he'd had to, Which he didn't. Obama has polled as one of the best Presidents in American history. So far. (Trump has polled as one of the worst Presidents in American history.)

Obama sincerely tried to make the country its best, and worked to help its citizens...with wages, jobs, health care, and large corporations and businesses, too. He worked to curb global warming and environmental damage, which affects everyone in the world. He had successes and some failures. He had an excellent record, though, considering that the Republican Congress stonewalled him completely, despite him trying to work with them. (The Dems accepted almost 200 Republican amendments to the ACA; the Republican Congress under Trump wouldn't even let the Dems attend the meeting about their healthcare initiative, much less let the read it or accept amendments.)
