Depends. If your a cop and you show yourself to be prejudice like saying something about blacks on twitter or being recorded saying it somewhere and it is made public, your not fit for a job that requires you to protect and serve all people and not have any bias. Because then you cannot be trusted.
But when it comes to a business, it's up to the business with what they want to do with the employee.
Well that's what you think, but I don't necessarily think so. One can fairly criticize a group or group member and be more fair than not. It's still violating the spirit of free speech however you want to rationalize it, and is just guilt by accusation.
SCOTUS has ruled that no one must participate in the pledge. The stupid teacher should have kept his mouth shut.
That's right.

Actually, he wasn't.
He is not allowed to use his position to foist his beliefs on a captive audience. He should have kept his festering gob shut.
Nothing needed to be said, and it's not his place to say anything at all.

I spent more than 10 years in the US Army and never once recited the Pledge, because the Army doesn't believe in it, which is why it is never used at any military function.
I used to fly or drive with LTG Morelli to the MDW every month, sometimes two and three times a month for some formal military function, and no one ever dreamed of saying the Pledge.
Were we somehow unpatriotic?

Standing defeats the purpose of not saying the Pledge.
Now you have something new to think about.

That was mistake number two by the school.

Well, thanks for highlighting the pitfalls of groupthink.

They fly the flag, salute the flag. You are fixating on the pledge of allegiance, when I see this as someone still a child already indoctrinated into protesting the country over their race.
They added "under God" when I was in school. I think that was wrong. Congress only added that because they thought they would catch Communist spies because they would not say "under God". A little stupid?
The teacher should have turned it into teaching moment and asked the girl what she is protesting and why.
I think it would have been a very interesting debate.
Or it could have been an opportunity for the teacher to impose his personal views on young, impressionable minds. He obviously has a problem and you can bet he's itching for his students to see things his way or be left confused and disrespected if they don't.
I'm only a decade older than high school age myself, so I clearly remember the blatant mindf---ing and indoctrinating I was subjected to as a young black child being "taught" by white adults. It's disgusting.

The most American thing you can do is exorcise your right to salute or not salute the flag.

America did a lot of stupid things after the 1940s because of or in reaction to communist and Nazis, the real ones abroad.

Nothing American about not standing to or saluting the flag especially if your doing it because of your race. I'll just see you for what you are.
