Or it could have been an opportunity for the teacher to impose his personal views on young, impressionable minds. He obviously has a problem and you can bet he's itching for his students to see things his way or be left confused and disrespected if they don't.
I'm only a decade older than high school age myself, so I clearly remember the blatant mindf---ing and indoctrinating I was subjected to as a young black child being "taught" by white adults. It's disgusting.
What about parents indoctrinating and brainwashing their 14 year old child to protest America because of their race? Teachers are suppose to be mentors to a degree, and he sounds a lot better than this kid's parents likely are.
If it's a public school, correct. The government cannot compel speech. The student doesn't have to stand for or say the Pledge.
"If it's a public school, correct."
So, public schools have ZERO rules, policies, etc?
As written in the Constitution Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Where was the teacher trying to force the student to do anything?
"The student’s attorney, John Williams, wrote in the lawsuit that the plaintiff and the others were mocked and shamed when Belvedere thanked other students for standing during the pledge, while saying the student was “dishonest” for how she expressed her beliefs.
Another teacher was also brought into the classroom to lecture the students on “their supposed lack of patriotism,” the lawsuit reads.
The lawsuit also alleges that the student was wrongly accused of not doing her classwork.
Williams wrote in the suit that the plaintiff “has been frightened and intimidated and has suffered emotional distress and anxiety.”
She is now feeling frightened and intiidated and suffers emotional distress and anxiety.
Please
" and has suffered emotional distress and anxiety.”, which why they have EARNED the name "SNOWFLAKES"!
In the classroom is NO PLACE FOR STAGING A PROTEST OF ANY KIND!
"
A 14-year-old girl is accusing her teacher of violating her First Amendment rights after he allegedly “mocked and shamed” her for not standing for the Pledge of Allegiance during class, Connecticut’s Hartford Courant reports.
According to a federal lawsuit filed Monday, the unidentified student, who is black, joined a group of classmates in sitting out the pledge in protest. The lawsuit calls her non-participation a “peaceful and non-disruptive expression of their belief that African-Americans suffer from racial discrimination in the United States.”

Being ethnocentric or even unpatriotic does not make you a bad person. Humiliating a child for having different values does make you a bad person. A teacher's job is to teach the subjects not proselytize.
Sad, sad days in America. The damage that liberalism and the Democrats have done is astounding.
Shame on anyone for following the Constitution?
