I think we should just wait to see. She has been a congressman for maybe 3 days now. We don't know how she will fit into the Congress or how productive she will be. Personally, I think lots of people here resent any woman who is self confident, and that is how she comes across. I don't live in New York, so I don't know much about her record or her campaign, but there is at least some hope that she may introduce ideas and energy that many past and present congressmen have been unable to muster. The congress has not been, in recent years, a shining example of productivity, ethics and creative thinking. The fact that there are many new faces, and many diverse populations represented is a good thing to me. Aren't you all getting sick of the stodgy, old white guys, sitting on their security and their pensions, doing nothing? Curmudgeons almost always call young people with energy "idiots."

That would be United States Representative Ocasio-Cortez. (Unless of course we all decide it's acceptable to refer to the First Lady as that broad Melania.)

And she has already disgraced the office with her ludicrous, un/anti-American rhetoric and agenda.

Yeah it couldn't be because she is a socialist.

There's definitely a double standard for sure. We certainly don't hold Trump accountable for being an actual moron.

Right. All bets off for their argument when we have a corrupt president that is amoral.

Given the average age of our senior Congress members, and their happiness with their lack of any different approaches to anything that has any importance, it's no surprise that a young attractive female newbie with the courage to be a flame is getting so much attention.

In a fire that has nearly gone out and is only slumbering coals, any bright flame is bound to be noticed.

I watched the 60 Minutes interview with Ocasio-Cortez, and she admitted her Green New Deal is both radical and risky. But she made a very good point when she said all the other, older approaches to our problems have been tried and none has succeeded.

So- why not try something radical? Ocasio-Cortez has very different ideas than Trump, but he was elected because he also wanted to stir the slumbering ashes back into flame too, and his ideas are just as radical as hers.

I find it ironic that both looked back to our distant past to find ideas that once worked and are now seen as radical. The only real difference in that aspect between them is Ocasio-Cortez didn't look as far back into the past as Trump.

I attribute that difference to their respective ages. 44 years is a lot of age difference. When I was her age, 44 was old to me. Now that I'm Trumps age, 44 is much younger that I once believed it to be when I was 28.

She is proposing the same old and proven failure, socialism.

Oh, not just her. You've got Maxine, Fauxahontas, Screech Sanders, Plastic Cowboy Hat Chick, Pelosi and a host of other wack-jobs that are also responsible. This ditz is just the latest in a string of disastrous jokes within the Democratic party. Nobody with an IQ over 70 takes them seriously.
