The whole "national security" shtick is just fearmongering, which is the only way conservatives know to motivate anyone. Hospitals are not "flooded with illegals." This is BS, and not the reason for the high cost of medical care.
Hospitals can and do refuse service to those who can't pay.
Only emergency rooms are mandated to accept anyone who walks through the door and they only provide acute, emergency care.
Anyway, back to the topic of this thread. There are indeed a lot of problems to be solved. Wasting $5 billion on a downpayment on a wall we don't even know what it will be built out of it is low on the list of priorities.

No, the fear mongering is all of the things you mentioned above. It's not an irrational fear to want a secure border. There are still thousands jumping our border illegally every month. So claiming it's down from 10 years ago doesn't mean crap. Get back with us when it's down to a trickle and then we can talk.
Your labeling the GOP as not carrying is also false. If the Democrats really cared about the American people they wouldn't be putting illegal aliens above the American people. The democrats don't want to negotiate. They have no rational reasons for not wanting to negotiate. Instead, they have an irrational reason --- they hate Trump.
The Dems don’t want to spend $ 5.8 billion for a wall when more up-to-date means are available. Trump only is fighting for the Wall because he wants to fulfill one of his silly campaign promises.
There are already drones that can lift a person over a wall.
Batteries may be the drawback. Haven't kept up on it, but have seen YouTube videos of drones lifting people up to house roofs for the past couple years.
