Furthermore, poverty is a choice. People choose it by intentionally screwing up their lives by drinking, drugging, making random babies, not taking care of business, not studying in school, etc. Poverty is impossible if you follow a life of common sense and don’t get a rare disease or injury.

Kids are the sole responsibility of the parents who brought them into the world. If their parents die, call me. Until then, there is no entitlement to steal from others for your bad decision to have one or more children without adequate planning and resources. If you do that, it's on you, along with any misery you bring to your kids.
I know for a fact that NJ and PA have subsidized childcare. Lower income families pay zero to a portion of childcare depending on their income.

I agree with you. People need to be held accountable. Welfare is going nowhere. Subsidized childcare has strict requirements for work and education. I’ve worked with people utilizing this program. It has great oversight. There are verifications required every three months by way of paystubs and school registrations and transcript records.
I would rather the hand up so people can better themselves. Yes, I’m a conservative. But on another plane. I’m all for pro choice. Others are pro life. Unplanned pregnancy happens. Pro life? Ok. I’d rather you be able to work or attain higher education to get completely off any assistance than be on it for the next 18 years.
