Listen to the libs and don't be alarmed. They are peace loving, kind, and open minded people who would not harm a fly.
It is ironic that this is happening in a liberal stronghold. Sometimes a child needs to be stung a few times to understand that you do not get close to bees.
The problem is that libs protect some minorities and openly accept prejudice against others. When I, a Jewish woman, expressed concern about Omar's blanket hatred of Israel, and her previous anti-Semitism, I was called anti-Muslim.

The left always has a name or title to denigrate anyone who does not agree with Marxist/liberal dogma.
Liberalism is based in totalitarianism, so it is not surprising that they would embrace a barbaric, 7th century set of "values" and vilify Christianity/Judaism.
Libs are playing with fire, as their uncomfortable allies against Christianity and western civilization (Islam) has a very consistent habit of "biting" every group that is not Islamic. It is almost hilarious that liberals are "discovering" ( to their shock) that Muslims hate them and want to impose a feudal, barbaric state of existence on everyone else.
I understand that people want to bring awareness to issues in NYC but damn if I don't care at all. NYC is such a different place than anywhere else in America, its like comparing apples to planets because their both roundish.
There is little in my everyday life in Florida that gives me a sense of what NYC should do about a problem. I can't be the only one here that doesn't get it.
Perception can effect the patrol’s behavior. Other neighborhood/community patrol groups do not ride in cars that look almost exactly like their city’s police cars nor wear uniforms that look very much like police uniforms. I applaud the intent of the patrol but their uniform and vehicles look so much like NYPD that some on the patrol may feel empowered to act as if they have police power and authority. As such they may also feel justified in enforcing their version of Islamic morality and laws upon others. It’s not Islamaphobia it’s basic psychology and human nature. Such a program will attract some who want power and authority to force upon others. At first they’ll follow the basics of the program but as they become comfortable in their role then their discipline will relax and they can begin to ignore the restrictions placed upon them.

There are communities in the north central part of the country where whole neighborhoods are not only Muslim, they are also ethnically divided by country or region of origin. A program like this could easily pop up in such communities.
The patrols can become illegal if they use their vehicles and uniforms to pass themselves off as NYPD or use them to harass citizens for not following sharia laws in their communities
