Perception can effect the patrol’s behavior. Other neighborhood/community patrol groups do not ride in cars that look almost exactly like their city’s police cars nor wear uniforms that look very much like police uniforms. I applaud the intent of the patrol but their uniform and vehicles look so much like NYPD that some on the patrol may feel empowered to act as if they have police power and authority. As such they may also feel justified in enforcing their version of Islamic morality and laws upon others. It’s not Islamaphobia it’s basic psychology and human nature. Such a program will attract some who want power and authority to force upon others. At first they’ll follow the basics of the program but as they become comfortable in their role then their discipline will relax and they can begin to ignore the restrictions placed upon them.
I suspect you have not observed the volunteer patrols in most ultra orthodox communities.
NYC has granted funds to some community patrols to buy cars that bear a striking resemblance to police cars. Volunteers wear uniforms.
Then there’s the long history of some rabbis strongly encouraging their communities to call the patrol before or instead of NYPD and promising harsh consequences for being an informant on another Jew to secular authorities.
Uniformed religious zealots driving around an American city in mock police cars harassing the public... is there anything liberals won't try to justify?
You would have been right at home as an apologist for the Nazi street patrols in early '30s Germany.
So if you’re a Moslem (one of their own), they can walk around harassing people who didn’t attend mosque, attack those who decided to leave the religion, stopping the sale or alcohol or people listening to musics, forcing women to wear the hijab or be escorted by a male (even if they agree with those practices)? No, not even for their own. This is a free country for all.

Did I say that? NO. Your failure to recognize what that religions Quran says and instructs their followers to participate in via deception and killing of infidels is appalling. Gays can't even show their faces where these "community patrols" are in London. I been there and it's like Shariah and that's what's coming to NYC. It's the failure of the NYPD to take legal action against these NYPD impersonators and stop hate crimes. Don't put a religious patrol on PUBLIC land. Save that for their places of worship. Let's all co-exist and live our own lives and save religion for your places of worship.
Seems reasonable to me and Muslims have NO BUSINESS going around with patrols that look like police operations. Take your diversity and shove it, NYC.

Jews and Asians have their own community patrols that look like police operations. Part of the point of having cars that look like a type of enforcement vehicle is to visually deter crime by mere presence. Thats why my neighborhood "Metrowatch" security patrol has a car that looks similar to the city police, wears a uniform similar to police, but has no jurisdiction or authority outside of reporting to the actual police, just like the patrols in NYC.
If they have not yet removed that red/blue light-bar from their fake cop car... yes.
So all of this hub bub over a light bar? Otherwise, no issues whatsoever?
