The USA could save a ton of money and grief if they would stop subsidizing people who build in low places that flood and on beach front lots.
The city of Houston after Harvey when 5-10% of the place flooded is allowing a subdivision to be constructed on known flood plain.
It's a two-fer. The city gets a flood of new property tax money, and when those areas eventually flood, government will blame man-made climate change, again. It's a win-win for government, insurance companies will be forced to pay to rebuild those homes, property tax money will flow, and they will have more desperate people willing to sign over control to government, in the silly notion that government can control the weather and make everything better.

Exactly, weather events can only ever be used to promote catastrophic man-made climate change. The same people promoting it will scream bloody murder if their opponents use the same tactic on them.
It's laughable that while the Democrats are alarming us about the world ending in 12 years from being too warm that so much of the country has had cold spells that are once in a generation event.
The plains just had the coldest weather since the 1990s and parts of LA have gotten snow and Las Vegas is getting it multiple times per week.
I find it ironic that after liberals were warning us about the world ending in 12 years due to climate change and global warming that it snows in the city of Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
There is massive concern about this horrendous cold spell causing damage to many plants in California that have been around for decades. Low temperatues down to 23 degrees in Romona which is a suburb of San Diego.
"Global Warming" doesn'e mean it won't snow, it means climate patterns are shifting radically. The hot air at the North Pole is pushing the cold air southward. You can look to Australia to see what is in store for us in the Northern Hemisphere this summer.
That's the new tactic, to make these 'sky-is-falling" predictions further out into the future. In the past, they made their doom and gloom "or else" predictions ten years out. But then ten years would go by and nothing even close to what they predicted came true, so they made another ten year prediction.
When those ten year wild-eyed predictions never came true, they figured they needed to make their predictions thirty to fifty years out. This way they could possibly get the people to agree to allow government control over them, and by the time their wild-eyed predictions were once again proven to be false, they'd already have control over the people and industry, and it would simply be too late to undo it.
They have to keep that grant money flowing. "All is calm and well" doesn't sell.
Pro Tip: When you see a scientific report on a subject, find out who funded the research. That will tell you whether or not the books were cooked.
As of today, 97% of the world's government-funded climate scientists are certain we are developing a man-made global warming crisis.
And if the warmists can corrupt enough scientists to climb on board the hoax train, and discredit or squeeze out any scientists actually doing real science, then the warmists win.
Just a couple years ago even the UK Met Office and NASA were forced to accept the truth and were writing reports acknowledging a two decade pause in the global mean surface temperatures.
It's government that wants control over the people, and man-made global warming climate change is their best chance to convince the people to empower government over them. So what happens when government pours billions of taxpayer dollars into only the studies, techniques, data collection and manipulation which helps them in their agenda? It's simple, the data we see will be one-sided.
You don't see the obvious? It's the government which wants control over the people, industry, production and our way of life, and it's not curious how 97% of government researchers are on the side of the government's agenda?
