They started school busing for elementary schools in 1968, the High School was integrated before that, but that wasn't hard since there was only one High School. Harris started school in 1969, that was the second year of school busing for her district.

I lived in the SF bay area during that time and everyone hated busing, even the people it was supposed to help. It didn't achieve the intended results and basically kicked off white flight in the areas where busing was mandatory.

Given that her family was not poor, but probably lived in the Berkeley flats because of redlining I am guessing that you might be right & that a family member might have transported her to school. Redlining was formally outlawed in 1968 but in some areas the practice continued for several years after that.

I just posted to explain why Biden ended up speaking the most last night.
Sorry I will delete my comment. I agree, he spoke the most because he was brought into the discussion so often

In my personal experience, the average dem really is this deranged, not just the lunatics who post on the internet. Scary.
We want to make sure the country doesn't burn to the ground, and that means making sure Trump doesn't get a second term. I believe a majority of the country agrees with this, which is why so many are committed to voting against him no matter who the Democratic candidate ends up being.

Virtually any one of those 20 candidates would be a better choice than Trump, including the really out of place Marianne Williamson. She at least is coherent and sounds intelligent, two things no one will ever accuse Trump of.

He is his own worst enemy and will defeat himself with his divisiveness and stupidity. Anyone But Trump will be the candidate to beat in 2020. And that's all his own doing.

Hahahahahahaha. That's so funny. You actually think this is the key to winning an election? Democrats are now fighting over Maine, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Nevada.

These weren't even battleground states before Trump showed up.

I'm late to the party but Harris has proven her strength on policy and hold one's feet to the fire over and over again. She can hang with the best of them from her questioning of Kavanaugh, Barr, and Biden, it's clear she would represent the US well on domestic and foreign policies.

I highly doubt that Snopes or any of the left-wing "fact checkers" will actually investigate it.

I like Harris, but I can't support her anymore after she said that she wants to eliminate all private insurance (i.e. the Bernie Sanders plan). There are well over 100 million people in this Country who get employer based insurance or pay for a private policy and they do NOT want to lose it for a public option that may well not provide them with the same level of benefits. If we get a candidate who advocates completely eliminating private insurance Trump will be reelected.
