I never said someone, I said a America. It would not be based upon color of skin, but lineage from enslaved Americans.

What are you talking about? You’re the one obsessed with skin color. Do you not realize that other non-white people would also be contributing as well? Not everyone in the U.S. is either white American or African-American you know and we pay taxes.

I have dark skin, am the first generation born in the US and am of African and Asian heritage, primarily. I’d be paying too because I’m not African-American. No one in my family was here pre-1970s. You don’t see me whining and complaining about it. This is my country and this country has a debt to pay.

It will end up being like a class action lawsuit. $500 gazillion will be set aside, and by the time its all said and done, lawyers would get 98% of it, and actual people (no, lawyers are not people ) would get about $4.36 each.

With that said Id be opposed to it all anyway.

What do you suggest then? America should just print the money to pay the reparations?

I might actually be for that, but I am heavily invested in the stock market, so I would be sharing in the windfall.

If that is not what you are suggesting, then someone IS going to pay for it. A lot of someones, actually.

OK then. But then a better way to phrase it is Americans are going to pay for it. None of whom were actually responsible for it.

How does this "reparations" thing work? Is the United States going to reimburse the descendants of those Americans that had their property taken from them-by the US government? Slavery was wrong and absorbance. But it was also legal-and the slaves were the property of their owners. So-are we going to reimburse those who's property was stolen by the federal government? We could have avoided the loss of 600,000 Americans had the government simply purchased the slaves freedom.
