Generation X grew up in a country that had desegregated the schools, where we were taught that everyone was equal, to judge people "on the content of their character, not the color of their skin." Now, all that has been tossed out, lol! Segregation is returning under the name of "safe spaces," there is a constant vilification of whites in academia and the media. In the current year, every interaction no matter how banal and ordinary between whites and blacks has a racial subtext. Individualism is out, racial identity is in.
