Actually, currently. For example, Sweden has a higher per capita billionaire rate than the US, and also a higher poverty rate. And it STILL, nevertheless, has a regressive tax system. The tax burden is higher on the poor and middle class than it is on the rich for 3 reasons...

1) Very flat income tax brackets. Sweden's middle class is in the top marginal tax bracket, just like the rich.
2) Sweden has a VAT tax, which is highly regressive.
3) Sweden eliminated its wealth tax in 2007.

NY and California prove that you can be quote Socialistic in nature without meeting the dictionary definition of Socialism.

And just because they may not currently meet that narrow definition, doesn't mean that they aren't working towards that end.

If you’ve ever been to a Scandinavian country, you’d understand why a minimum wage isn’t necessary. It’s understood in European societies that having decent wages is beneficial to the state at large.

That virulent strain of hyperstupid American selfishness doesn’t run thru Scandinavia.

Um... Look at the dates of that info. Some are as old as the mid-1990s.

Oh, boy. Do you even distinguish between income and wealth?

Here is the report.
https://www.credit-suisse.com/about-...th-report.html

P.S. The Gini values for Netherlands and Sweden do not appear to be in the report. The WEALTH inequality numbers for US and Russia match what you posted.

We already know that the Netherlands and Sweden outpace the US in income inequality given the Credit Suisse report:

"With a Gini Index of 0.852, the United States ranks as the country with the fourth highest amount of income inequality. Below are the ten countries with the highest inequality and the ten with the lowest, according to the report.

Now we know THIS, as well:

"The top 1 percent in Sweden now own a greater share of the country’s wealth than the top 1 percent in the United States, according to Credit Suisse’s 2018 Global Wealth Report."
