I keep warning the gun nuts that if they don't bring common sense gun control measures to the table, circumstances will eventually dictate extreme gun control measures.
Indeed. Drastic measures such as preemptive declaration of a state of emergency because of what might happen at a planned and announced rally?

Since a state of emergency allows the governor to deploy NG troops I suppose that's just to be expected too? To clarify I'm not one who would attend a rally such as this waving around my AR 15 waving a Confederate battle flag. But since I am licensed to carry I would probably do so. Discreetly.

I understand fully how passionate folks are about their 2 A rights and I support that. And an armed large assemblage certainly does get government attention. And if done so peacefully is very effective.

In this case I believe that state deployed forces are likely to over react and be jumping at shadows though. It would likely be better for folks to not go to the rally bearing arms. It just gives the government an excuse.

If state troopers, local cops and NG who are all on edge are mixed with armed citizens equally on edge it could be catastrophic.

The VA governor is doing g his level best to see this escalate from my point of view with this state of emergency nonsense. IMHO rally goers shouldn't feed the troll.

Liberals and the term common sense relating to firearms are mutually exclusive.

Actually a gun was fired at Charlottesville but as far as I know noone was hit or injured. So Charlottesville did involve guns to some extent.

I personally don't know if the dude is a white supremacist or not, but this was the first video I could find on the incident.

Did the black dude get busted for using a home made flame thrower?

Most of the state needs to repeat the West Virginia project.

The best way to diffuse the situation would be for creepy Northam to leave gun owners alone. No need for a rally, no need for a ban, no need for the tensions he has purposefully stoked.
