A few days ago, I could buy TP for about $30 on ebay. Now I no longer have that option because some pearl-clutcher deemed it immoral. I'm so sick of these people who want to impose restrictions without thinking about the actual consequences.

The thing is after SARS emerged in 2002, China closed and banned all "wet markets", then a few years after that, dropped the ban and they opened right back up, with business as usual. It will be interesting to see what happens after this Pandemic. There was a good, short video on Vox about the Chinese wet markets and what they are and what happened to them after SARS.

However, it needs to be done INTELLIGENTLY.
In the example provided, you help out renters with laws but then the landlord possibly loses their building to the bank. Not everyone is a wallstreet billionaire so ranting about them doesn't make bad local laws ok.
Helping some people weather this is a great idea but boning others while doing it is not.
So, if the govt. wants to help with unemployment or rent subsidy etc. then that may be the better approach.

I'll take climate change any time. It is an easy problem to fix, all it takes is the wish to do so.
Corona is the opposite, incredibly small, invisible basically, sneaky. We all wish to get rid of it, but can't.
My husband got a very similar illness in late January. High fever (103.9), it all started with a weird cough that got very severe. He was also checked out for pneumonia and given an inhaler. He was tested for influenza (negative). They did throw an antibiotic at him (doxycycline which they would give for pneumonia) and it actually did help. So not sure if it was COVID or just something else since the antibiotic seemed to help. He didn't rapidly improve though and he ended up feeling poorly for another 3 weeks.
I sort of thought "maybe he had it" but then I figured, since it's so contagious, surely I would have picked it up or his coworkers (yes he was at work when it first started) but nothing.
Now everyone who got some undefined illness will think they had Covid-19. When they get a test, get his antibodies checked. There are many cough illnesses.

That's what I was thinking, as well. I heard of young physicians in their 20's and 30's being on the frontline in Wuhan, where the constant exposure just overwhelmed their immune system and they just died.
