People are anxious? You mean the ones who have lost their jobs, are trying to apply for unemployment and can't apply online because the systems crash, can't get anyone on the phone?

Do you know what civil unrest is? I do, I live in LA and experienced it firsthand in 1992. One of my concerns since this shutdown is how long before people who feel they are starting to lose everything, because many have, act out

You can't see past your nose.
This should be a big red flag to everyone...these are the kinds of things that happen as a collapse progresses. Govt is functioning right now...but eventually it wont be able to.

And a collapse feeds upon itself. As more become unemployed it drives the momentum for even more unemployment. Throw in tax revenue streams drying up, all while govt costs go up due to more people using social safety nets, and then even govt workers lose their jobs and govt systems fail. There is a tipping point from which we may not recover. Right now we're speeding towards it.

We have places like Sweden where the hope is to rely on herd immunity and India where the situation defies usual isolation efforts. Those are mutation factories cranking out new versions. There is no evidence that surviving the virus brings immunity. The know-it-all reopen crowd wants to take that route. The scientists trying to create a vaccine or treatments are struggling as it is but they don’t need dozens of other varieties. Keeping infections as low as possible is what we need. By screwing up the early stages we probably missed the opportunity.

Government has always been printing money...especially during the Reagan years till even now...so why quit now? Let's just continue on!
A loaf of bread would cost near $500. right now if the Govt was just printing money based on nothing.

It's amusing to me to read all this concern over unemployment, suicide, and starvation, when eight weeks ago said right wingers wouldn't have given their grandma's dentures to help anyone in this situation. Now they're willing to sacrifice grandma's health for the greater good. LMAO

How very telling that you'd call children hysterical and a side show freak. Is there anyone that you do respect?

And how ironic that you resort to childish name calling about children.

Tell that to the morons protesting at the state capitols.

Where is the media outrage?
You answered your own question. There is no media outrage (although flu outbreaks are a frequent seasonal topic for news coverage) because it has not been an unusual or remarkable year for the flu. Not news, at least not this year.

Folks, there's something going on here that we don't have a clue about.
Oh, the irony ..

Because she has more medical degrees and experience in medicine than you do.

Childish name calling reflects more poorly upon the name caller than it does the subject of the name calling.

Totally untrue. NOBODY wants to sacrifice the health of others and those people at risk, need to self quarantine. However, that doesn't mean we can't open back up. We should have never shutdown.

The only thing that is stupid crap is listening to the ones who say we should shut down.
The flu kills around 250,000-500,000 people a year worldwide. Covid has already killed over 200,000 in about 8 weeks. When people die of the flu, they usually don't die alone, surrounded by people in hazmat suits. I don't know anyone who has recovered from the flu who has been on dialysis from it, gotten blood clots and strokes, gotten heart, liver and lung damage from it. Say what you will, we really won't know the extent of what we're dealing with until we get the casualty numbers in a year's time.

I agree about the social distancing and wearing masks. But from what I'm seeing pictures of, people swamping beaches, protesting, etc., not a lot of that going on.

Actually they are sheep. Easily led, easily fooled. So sad that we have destroyed our economy because we turned the country over to the most alarmist hand wringing anxiety proned people in America. Because of them we all now have to live with the depression. Because of them our serious political division in America is being brought to a head. Anyone in here that does not think the combination of economic depression and severe 1850s level political division will not lead to something truly catastrophic is a complete fool. National ruin is upon us and we have done it to ourselves.

Who is to blame? Liberal media for the hysteria. Blue state governors for the harshest and earliest lockdowns, liberal medical professionals on tv helping to drive panic, and the citizens who so easily surrendered their freedoms without question. In this forum all the lockdown monkeys are the ones we see typically pushing the leftist moonbat agenda, this coronavirus panic after all is their grand chance to make America into an authoritarian socialist state. This whole thing is a leftist coup, a false flag attack upon capitalism and personal liberties. This is our reichstag moment.

Don’t think this has worked. Conservatives are dazed and addled most definitely as is the entire country. We are however beginning to protest and organize. Our red states are opening back up. We will organize against this coup attempt and we will stop it. This is not a ticket to socialism and we will do whatever is necessary to stop this attack upon America. Time to wake up America. Our economy is done for but the country does not have to be. We still can stop them if we organize against this. Americans should never forget who drove this panic, they should be labeled as villains in our history.

Ben Franklin said something to the effects of “ those who would trade liberty for safety and security deserve neither”
