You could not be more out of touch with what is going on !!! Shutting down the economy has not and will not kill the virus !!! It was never the intention to kill the virus but manage it in a way that doesn't overwhelm the healthcare system !!! Where that has been accomplished its time to open up the economy !!!
Except flattening the curve is not a one-and-done deal. In the absence of a vaccine or simple cure, the curve will only stay flat for as long as social distancing continues. Let the virus spread like wildfire now, and hospitals will be overwhelmed within a few weeks, meaning that all the social distancing thus far will have been for nothing.
I'm not at all happy about this either. This effing pandemic has completely disrupted my life, and to a certain extent, my work life. I hope that a successful treatment/vaccine/mass produced PPE is a reality soon so we can get back to our lives.

Social distancing isn't the same thing as lockdowns. We started calling for social distancing in early to mid March (but telling people then not to wear masks) and never gave it a chance to have an effect before lockdowns put in place. They kept insisting it would take 3-4 weeks for numbers to be manifested in the lockdowns but never gave the social distancing precautions more than a week or two.
Almost nowhere have the hospitals been overwhelmed. The data doesn't show hospitalization having much of an effect in the outcome anyway.
Who here will be the last holdouts wearing masks and refusing to leave their house? Still banging on their keyboards to obey obey obey. Hey, are you pro lockdown people even human? You sound like bots.
I don't know anyone who refuses to leave their houses, not unless they have months and months of supplies. I go out when I need to. But yes, I will continue to socially distance and wear a mask for the foreseeable future. I'm not a bot, but I am vigilant and listen to the medical experts.
About 8 weeks? Did it not start killing people as early as November/December in China? That's a lot longer than 8 weeks. That's about five/six months.
Just shows how exponential this disease is. I think China identified around 266 people before the end of the year. The first case was reported in January. Now we are at close to a million. You do the math.
A second wave is probably inevitable, and perhaps a third and a fourth. The trick will be to keep them from getting too big. People can learn to act in ways that allow for work, and life, to go on.
I keep hearing we're in for a mountain range type of effect: peak, flattening, peak, flattening.
Everyone will blame the leftists for the economic collapse. The coronavirus panic is a left wing event....period. Everyone knows this, leftists are the ones who caused it, leftists issued the lockdowns, leftists are the ones hiding under their beds. Most Americans are NOT following the orders to stay at home and the proof is in the number of people on the streets. Where I live in Tennessee most people are not even wearing masks (although I’ve noticed in areas where more liberals live there seems to be more mask wearing) We are not over represented in here, I believe we are likely the majority. Of course if the media were to be asked we would be depicted as a small fringe group of mostly bunker inhabiting militia members lol.

You act like nobody has died from this and it's all just made up. This is just blatatly disrespectful to those that have died. Coronavirus can infect anyone. Not just democrats. I know some republicans who have gotten it and one who died from it. I guess they didn't get the memo it's a democrat made up disease. It's this kind of blatant stupidity and disregard for human lives that got people into this mess and became a pandemic. Go ahead and have more disregard for people's lives and see how that works when you are struggling to breath and no hospital beds for you. It's this kind of stupidity and disregard for life that the death tolll is so high and we all have to stay home. You have no concept of public health at all it looks like. By not staying home and not wearing masks you are making other people sick and spreading your germs to others.

BTW I can say the same thing about an economic collapse. There is no economic collapse at all. It's all just made up in your head.
