I'm not disagreeing with you this whole thing is one concept from the Communications and Brand Strategy
office and as I responded to the other poster there are people who look at this type of stuff because of their views/clientele.
If you are in business and doing these meetings would you not do it professionally? All I say is people should be conscience of what is being seen and a shot of a stacked kitchen counter doesn't look the best that's why Zoom allows you to have a background of your selection so they don't have to see the counter..
If this offers any consolation for you. My friend got feedback from his job in which they state that his personality is bland why? On his zoom and Skype calls he only appears on a white painted background. BTW he is Asian.

That’s fine. No one wants to be seen with a dirty house in the background or obviously wearing pajamas in these Zoom meetings, but this is not even in the same category. This is people wasting grant money figuring out ways that society as a whole has to shift for the minority. I disagree with it and won’t comply. I don’t believe in it, and particularly get offended by the term microaggression because there is no such thing. These people need help learning how to cope, not advocates telling them it’s okay to be horribly offended and the world is out to get them over nothing. And I don’t think businesses should cater to it nor grant money thrown at it.
But that's their job, Amy Bonomi, a social science researcher and works in Communications and Brand Strategy office. You and I may not agree with what she's saying but...
Good god. Your multi-post defense of this nonsense is pathetic... yet amusing.

With this pandemic. The biggest fallout other than the economy will be mental health. All of these people people who have microagressions need to find some way to cope. If somone gets offended by seeing a marriage photo on the wall or a white wall. These folks need a lot of help. On my zoom call. I have a statue of a naked goddess of greek/Roman origin. Just a copy. Does having that make meca racist, or up holding white or European beauty standards, or could it be I just like art, or could it be I'm just respecting my dead mothers mementos? Context matters with imagery.
Man. Lets not forget about people who get offended by one using another image due to cultural appropriation.

Where was this story in a campus magazine identified as being funded by grant money I don't recall seeing that? As with every concept in business people pick and choose what is right for them I don't disagree.
They have these little triggers in their heads and modern day social media allows them to blurt out words every time they are triggered to receptive audiences..kind of like the worst jerk you know with Tourette’s Syndrome.
My wife’s aunt and uncle are the worst card carrying atheist, people hating liberals you’ll ever meet. They are completely triggered by Christianity but are completely OK with Islam. They are the absolute scourge of our society.

No the only thing pathetic are the responses over my statement of being conscious of what is seen behind you in a meeting. One poster drew a parallel that between the wedding photo and my example of an open bathroom door that I was equating them to the same thing.

In my world people have a right to be offended, and I have a right not to care. That’s their problem, not mine. It’s called living in a free country. Now I’m not going to have porn playing in the background or some obviously offensive stuff, but we are talking about wedding photos here. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard, and people defending this nonsense crack me up. I laugh at them, but I won’t comply nor try to get them to change their minds. I just wish they could do the same.

With that said. These offended folks don't mind taking America down the toilet.
