someone please answer me, if they want to lock up black hair care products - is it because of theft? Why would black hair care products be those that get stolen?
I don't get the whole meaning of this..
It is commonly said that blacks steal everything. That happens because we are also said to be unqualified for most jobs which means we don’t really make any money, and we are also reported to be lower in intellect, meaning there is no chance for most of us at having any money to buy everything we need, so we have to steal. Those products are also cost inflated. Again, need them to look halfway decent among the whites but can’t afford them, so stealing is the only way.
Well, considering how fast walmart reversed their policy, due to how many people were complaining about it... I think the effort was very successful, and in fact, it will probably lead to all those other things being brought out of the locked cases.
We can see now this works...they bring awareness to something...companies change their policies on it as a result!
Keeping tobacco locked is really strange though, its always said not that many people even use these products today!
Walmart reversed it because it hit the news, not because there were SO many people complaining about it. When the spotlight goes away things will quietly change again.
How do you not know that tobacco products are high theft and bring a LOT of money on the black market???
I think a part of the problem with some of the thinking here is you guys have some strange idea that it's the people running the stores choosing to lock things up. But basically it's the computers that tell each individual store which specific items or departments to lock up, based strictly on NUMBERS, so it's like you're trying to say that the computers are racist. Which is ridiculous. The computer has no idea if SKU number 980009999-1 is a black hair care product or a candy bar, it just knows that every week six of them disappear off the shelves without being sold.

Here you have it, folks: black people steal haircare products because they can’t afford them due to systemic racism plus a need to look “halfway decent among the whites”. Oh - and white kids steal them to make black people look bad, but get away with it because “they’re clever” and “always polite”.

In retail it’s called “shrinkage” ... the rate at which theft occurs. Retail corporations have sophisticated software, as has been noted throughout this thread, that is used to determine the specific items that disappear frequently. The response is to lock up high-shrinkage product. This occurs everywhere, and it occurs based on software data that is completely colorblind. How is it so hard for some to absorb this concept?
