As the dissent showed though, that was not the meaning if "sex" when the law was made, nor the intent when the law was made.
If the gov wants the law to include this definition, then it needs to go through the approval process that created the law in the first place.
All this does is give the gov the power to change the definition of words, without the normal law making approval. I rather not give the gov the power to change definitions of words in laws, thus change the laws itself, without the gov having to go through the same process that created the law.
There's a reason why it's in the dissent...the logic is flawed. Discrimination on orientation necessarily involves the sex of the person. You can not take them as completely separate classes.
Ok I was just looking at my facebook and one of my loony liberal "friends" posted something stupid. To keep the peace I refuse to comment on anything he posts about politics or Anti Trump rants...
He posted a link from the NYTimes that the Supreme Court has ruled that Civil Rights Law Protect Gay and Transgendered Workers. He wrote "how about today's apples? Gorsuch and Roberts go Left!"
I would call it "they go human" . Most people do not care if someone is gay or trans in the workplace unless UNLESS as a result they get preferential treatment by the boss/owner or they don't pull their weight at the job. That goes for anyone. If someone is a lousy co worker then that is another problem.
What is it with the Loon Liberals, the Lefties, that can only think inside a box that they then lock up?
Why can't some people see the bigger picture that someone can like Trump and not be a racist? Or they support the Second Amendment but they do not support deranged murderers that shoot up schools. Or how they can respect our History and Heritage without taking offense to every statue and demanding that it be removed or they will do it themselves?

Of course justices on the Supreme Court that lean Right can see the humanity in an issue and react with common sense. In the case of protecting gays at work it is not a decision that is Left or Right.

WE agree -- it shouldn't be a big deal. But it could have been if the Surpreme Court had decided a company could fire someone for being gay.
That's the thing -- most 'equal rights' aren't a BIG deal - or SHOULDN'T be......but the fact some individuals have to take the matter to the Supreme Court for a decision suggests that it still is for some.
Looks like that is all going to be solved in the future when someone calls 911 and reports an injustice between the employer and an employee and a social worker responds !!! It will probably never get to court then !!!

If you are male and have a female companion that is OK. If you are female and have a female companion that is not OK. The only variable that changes there is the sex of the person in question.
As a private business I don’t have to disclose why someone isn’t hired. This is a moral victory nothing more.
If they sue you over discrimination you have to disclose or pay a fine. This was the situation prior to the lawsuit too. Prior to this case you couldn't refuse to hire someone because they were 55 years old, for example, as that was against the law due to age discrimination.
This new SCOTUS decision simply adds another protected class of people to the anti-discrimination rules. Keep in mind, prior to this SCOTUS decision, someone could have been legally fired for being straight too, since sexual orientation wasn't protected. Now straight people legally can't be fired for being straight and gay people can't legally be fired for being gay.
Now people who identify as LGBT are a legally protected victim group. It's much more than just legal protection from employment discrimination. This will open the door to federal funding for LGBT organizations, grants for LGBT scholarships and programs, etc.
And what would be wrong with that? Fed Gov't supports a plethora of organizations.

Seems to me all citizens should have the same civil rights.
Just because I vote Democratic most of the time these days, I'm beginning to object to being called looney or other names due to opinions of contemporary American non thinkers.
Why can’t republicans not realize not every or even most democrats is a SJW or thinks all cops should be abolished or is a commie or hates this country.
It works both ways. Both sides use the extremes on each side to try to prove a point that the other side is all loons while there side is the correct side to be on.
Not sure what that has to do with anyone except you, however.
