But you sound like a guy who doesn't believe sexism and misogyny exist. They do. Both are alive and well. As a former public servant, I bet you as a man would never receive the same kind of treatment that my former female colleagues and I often received.
It's one of the main reasons why the Dixie Chicks got the treatment they did after Natalie Maines made her comment.

My husband and I love their music. We did, however, think Natalie Mains was stupid for the remark that pretty much got them banished from country music years ago.

Her remark led to her receiving a hurricane of hate mail, including death rates. For an off-the-cuff remark about a public figure, a politician.
I agree that, for that reason, it was "stupid." She should have kept her mouth shut.
Ever seen the documentary Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing? It was one that first revealed to me how angry Americans can be, politically speaking. In a country in which at least half the population prides itself on "small government," the extent to which a significant segment of that same population allows politics (government) to control their lives and relationships, to transform them into raging lunatics, is mind boggling. Of course, the far left is just as bad, and I say that as a liberal.

As a female I take offence to the word chick. It is a derogatory word for women.
Ruh-roh....I heard a comment on the news media to that effect, tongue in cheek. The person mentioning it suggested maybe they change their name to just "The".
They are far from chicks these days !!! Old hens is closer to their identity !!!
