The most recent data says that cloth masks are protective for both the user of the mask as well as others from the user.
Since it appears that transmission of the virus is mostly droplet (and to some degree aerosol), cloth masks provide enough of a barrier to limit transmission in either direction to be useful in slowing down the spread of the virus.
Of course there are many people who are unable to see why slowing down the virus might actually be helpful in the grand scheme of things. Again, a brief stint in a COVID ward and they would get the picture. But probably nothing short of that would get it through their heads.

Trump's admin has provided the billions in funding to get us very close to a vaccine, which Thankfully, researchers seem to have made great progress on. A vaccine , plus having covid run its course, is truly all that will occur, no matter what anyone says.
It still will take a long time to immunize enough to make a substantial difference, and then its 2 doses annually, for years to come. I pray it is half as good as the preliminary studies indicate.

LOL. Pfizer didn't even accept government money to develop its vaccine. They partnered with a German company. Stop trying to give Trump credit for the vaccine.
With that said, Operational Warp Speed will help with logistics and that is a good thing.
I am crediting the funding that took place overall, the logistical planning, and far more thanking God, for allowing researchers to be so close to a vaccine with very good results so far.

Even with state mandates, unemployment will be far worse the next 2-3 years than April, 2020 was. Cash flow is why. Restaurants will close in massive quantities, hotels, malls..and they will not be replaced.
My state's largest malls are either converting space to apartments, or seeking to do so, and admitting we can't find new retail tenants for a very high vacancy rate.
Millions will either be evicted in 2021 from apartments, or banks will foreclose on the properties, as landlords can't pay w/o collecting rent.
Venezuela had a thriving economy just a few decades ago. It can occur in the USA if we are foolish and dismissive regarding economic needs.
This is completely false information. Europe had the virus under control throughout the summer months but now they are being hit by the winter wave. This has been predicted.
Wearing mask, social distancing, and locking down helps. Do you know the predicted deaths if we didn't do this? Much more than what Europe had.
