How does this hurt anyone? Are they intending to raise taxes to support it? How does the local community feel about it?

Do you even live in Asheville?

Every disadvantaged area probably has a story to tell.
So is this just a way of saying "we're doing reaparations", while just doing what they would otherwise be doing anyway?

Do not be disingenuous. No taxes paid, no investments. In all likelihood, the taxes will come in the form of special sales taxes, lodging taxes, business licenses, occupation taxes and such. It is a common way for municipalities to get around highly visible and onerous property tax increases.

Of course government investment means it's coming from tax dollars.

Yes- Boone is nutty also- Appy State is there. Banner Elk is still safe and the surrounding communities.

So that's a "no", then?

Maybe they will raise taxes, I don't know. Neither do you. I don't live in Asheville, so I don't really care. If the citizens of Asheville don't like it, they have a system for redress of their grievances.

You have some very dumb decision makers in North Carolina. It is going to get bloody.
No, it's simply not.

Thanks for playing, though. Next time try reading the actual article not the (incorrect) thread title.

It's too bad also. Asheville is another nice town that has become infested with liberals. They are like locusts and ruin everything they touch.

The libs in that area tend to stay out of the mountains proper and stick to Asheville and Boone. Fortunately, you rarely encounter the loonies in the Linville Gorge, grandfather mountain, and Banner Elk areas. The balance of western north Carolina is very mountainous and rural and not of a liberal mindset. Tons of Trump signs when you are in the mountain areas of west NC and eastern TN.

Those areas were actually pro-Union in the Civil War- it is not surprising that they oppose fascists today.

Next step. Present begging bowl for funding to the greater state/fed govt. White progressives will present it as "systemic racism" when denied. White proggies simply swoon over dopey schemes like this, but never come forward to pay for this nonsense themselves.
