I just dont understand...how many people today are slaves? My father was first American born in my family, we had no,slaves. So are we responsible for something that happened so long ago? So do you believe in reparations?
Not "North Carolina", but a city in North Carolina.
Asheville is undoubtedly the most liberal city in the state, FYI.
From the linked article:
The reparations won’t come in the form of direct payments to black residents — instead, investments will be made in areas that see racial disparities, the Citizen Times said.
That seems, to me, to be a reasonable approach to addressing the topic.

I don't get it.
Areas with disparity should ALREADY GET incentives and investments. Opportunity zones, for example, are already doing this for the black population.
Every disadvantaged area probably has a story to tell.

These 'investments' will be tax dollars of course......so essentially they will tax person A to give money to person B. The very people that plead for fairness couldn't spell fair to save their lives.
And no, there is no reasonable approach to stupidity......

yes.
you are responsible.
this isnt about black people. this isnt about slavery. This is about a communist move in this country. This is about hard left redistribution of wealth. this is about breaking America.

I didn't see any mention of increased taxes. Did you?
Of course government investment means it's coming from tax dollars.
Boone.. Asheville's evil twin in the High Country will follow at some point. Another piece of the Republic falls... those bleep bent on destroying America are smiling. Slavery/race is only the pretext to do this, this will do NOTHING to improve Asheville but the direct opposite just what they want.
