You have some very dumb decision makers in North Carolina. It is going to get bloody.
sorry you couldn't at least read the link. What has been announced is in 1 medium city, Asheville NC, which is a "liberal bastion". Except the influx of these folks with basically a purely retail/service economy makes it unaffordable for an outsized % of the population. The Black population is slightly below US average (11.7%) and well below NC average (21.5%).

It's old school virtue-signaling. They'll "make investments"... The county they're in has 5 opportunity zones; the main benefit to investors/job creators in OZ's are the tax benefits ... but of course municipal entities don't pay taxes anyway.

a $0.50 tax on every cup of coffee, and a $1 tax on every microbrew and they'll be rolling in cash in no time.

Businesses pass ALL taxes onto consumers and don't ask where you live when they are charging you more for stuff. You don't know much about business and economics do you?
I suppose folks might weigh such costs when they're considering where to spend their travel dollars. For example, how is it that FL lives on the back of tourism taxes?

Each State takes care of their own --- no federal money needs to be involved. If you do not like what your State adopts, two thing you can do, one, move to a State that fits your values, or two, wait it out and go through the voting process.

Where as all people pay taxes in that State, all people will be contributing --- to the States' agenda. There is no dividing that, by skin color.

please don't; after the first sentence, it's all nonsense.

These reparations are the beginning of big trouble.
LOLOL...you don’t see how it’s different than any other place in U.S.? If that’s the case, why consider moving anywhere if it’s all the same?

Reparations have been given to other groups without an issue. The issue for people now is only who they care going to...

Don’t tell them that. Please don’t tell them that welfare was established for whites in the first place. Welfare programs were all well and good when their parents and grandparents had access to welfare almost to the complete exclusion of African-Americans and other groups. But when it became available to black people and others, that’s when whites all of a sudden had huge problems with welfare.

…………………………….ummm………… …. they have been given to living victims, not the descendents of victims 160 years later.

One could then ask the Romans to pay the French, Germans, English, Greeks, and Middle Easterners to pay reparations for slavery. One could ask the Greeks to pay the Egyptions, Persians, and Middle Easterners for slavery. One could ask the Turks to pay the Spanish, Bulgarians, and Romanians (not to forget the Armenians) for slavery.

It is absurd. There is a statute of limitations for crimes for a reason, otherwise one could be pursuing crimes from two thousand years ago.

For those of us who had ancestors who died fighting for the Union cause, I think we are far more deserving of "reparations" from blacks for freeing them.

It isn’t their fault that the U.S. refused to do right for hundreds of years. Furthermore, African-Americans did just endure slavery but Jim Crow as well.

None of those countries are the U.S. This country should be fair. It did it for others so do it for African-Americans.

Sorry but you are not more deserving than people whose ancestors endured assault, battery, rape and even murder for generations and labored for no pay. Than people whose parents and grandparents lived through the terror of Jim Crow. How disrespectful and inhumane to infer such a thing.
