As an extension of the executive branch, I too believe in lean and efficient government. I believe in cost cutting (when their is bloat) and solvency. I too believe changes need to be made to the US Postal Service. I appreciate that the Postmaster general recently changed course and said no more cuts / changes until after the election after widespread public outcry by states and people of all political affiliations.

However, regarding "cost cutting" right before an election, I also second this comment:

"Return the mailboxes you removed," Rep. David Cicilline of Rhode Island said on Twitter. "Return the sorting machines you took out. Restore the regular hours of post offices you cut short. Return postal vehicles you took. The list goes on."

Anything that intentionally goes to impede, restrict, cause more difficulty, discourage any voter, cause a portion of these Amercan votes to be missed/not counted would be a travesty to our democracy and a would be a direct attack on one our most important freedoms.

Posted this link in another USPS thread, but it's appropriate here, too.

A fair look at the USPS in our current context, IMO. It's long but quite good.

My takeaway: It's not as bad as some "on the left" would have you believe, but it's not as innocuous as some "on the right" would like you to think, either.
